Soniq 10" Portable Blu-Ray Player (Refurbished) $73.95 Shipped from JB Hi Fi

80

I already have one of these, it plays most of the local blu rays I have thrown at it, but it is region locked and does seem to have some issues with the latest Fox blu rays, no issues with any region 4 DVDs

You can't play movies from USB either, I bought mine as most of my library is blu rays and the kids can watch them in the car with this

Even if you only play DVDs on this it's still a cheap 10" portable player

  • Thanks. I'm betting the refurb tag is just a battery repack, as they tend to die in storage.

    • Reading teh interwebs, you're probably right, seems there were a number with dead batteries. Good deal though

  • I wonder what the screen resolution is? If it's low, there's not much point to watch blu-rays on it.

    • 1024 x 576…quite good

  • Strange that this is cheaper than the DVD version.

  • as most of my library is blu rays

Why don't you just rip them, and watch on a tablet?
Using optical media in a portable device might have made sense last century.
What is the resolution of the display? 320x200?

    • Actually seems to be 1024 x 576. Quite good for a cheaply player….I'd be tempted myself if it had AV in, alas it seems to not tho

      • Yeah, just checked the one I have and you're right, has an AV out and an HDMI out but no AV inputs :(

    • I have twins, two of these players is less than the cost of one tablet and my time to sit there and rip 200 blu rays to a file format that a tablet can make sense of
If illegally ripping blu rays works for you then more power to you, I don't have the time or the inclination to do this, spending $148 is simpler and easier

  • Bought one. It came pretty quick
Takes 4 hours to charge, and gives 3 hours of playback. Enough to watch two 90min movies
Biggest downside so far is that the usb port only works for pictures, no video.
