My guess is you got the PC Version? This all versions which is pretty cheap. The Pc version isn't the best price but PS3 and Xbox ones are.
Why would you buy this game for anything but a PC/Mac?
Dunno. I like the PC version.
The controls for D3 map out pretty well on the Xbox 360 and I've heard that some game mechanics were also tweaked to make it more enjoyable. Not saying that it is better on a console but to liken it to an analogy think playing a side scrolling fighter such as Street Fighter or Tekken on a PC compared to on a console. A very similar game that feels very different when you have a controller.
Also, having people sitting on the couch with a couple of mates around a TV is a fun experience that reminds me of when I had a N64 growing up.
Unfortunately a huge bummer of the console versions of D3 is when a player is in a menu, no one else can do anything… Good opportunity for snacking?
Thing is - a lot of gamers would have a controller for their PC but not a mouse and keyboard for their console.
Then again, I remember playing a lot of hack n slash or shooter isometric games on the PS1 ('Loaded' anyone?) and they worked fine. I did play Re-Loaded on PC and remember being blown away by how much better it looked and controlled on PC actually.
The game is designed for PC, like both of it's predecessors.
i have played 360 and pc and they are both similar. happy with the 360 version but annoyed no expansion provided for 360

No, you paid $156 for it. That is pitiful. Oh, and I also sold my D3 account after I finished the game and got my full $40 back by selling it, so end cost for me was $0.

actually it is a bargain.
its very hard to get this game below $50 retail and is uncommon on ebay/gumtree and even then its round the $30 mark + the hassle/postage.just because you say you got it cheaper a long time ago doesnt negate the bargain. maybe you just got lucky or it fell of the back of a truck.
I wonder if Blizzard makes more money by keeping their prices high than if they were to discount their old games. I still haven't got Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 yet despite playing the crap out the earlier games. This is partly because of the stagnate high price and partly because they don't really seem to have any gameplay features that differ from their predecessors, just fancy new (~3 years old now) graphics.
But no, Starcraft II and Diablo 3 are still expensive despite being old games now.

There's a new one for ps3 coming out
Reaper of Souls for PS3 is coming out in August, and it includes Diablo 3 with it. If you can wait that time, then you get both games for price of Reaper of Souls.
Not a bargain. I paid $40 when the game first came out. A $4 price drop in 2 years is pitiful.
