Was hoping it would have been free on Android. Looked like a great app!

It was free on Android a few months back…

Seems to be free now, check the play store entry, it says the pro functionality is in the free version now.

        • Pro version is not free for android! $2.49 still.

Read what the free one says. Since yesterday they say you get all the pro functionality in the free version.

        • Awesome I'll give it a go!

        • Only works when you delete & reinstall the app!

It was free a few months back. After updating to the latest version though I lost the free subsciption and am back to the 4 map limit.

  • Pin your must-see holiday destinations on your tablet, sync your pins to your GPS enabled smart phone, then go adventuring in a foreign land without worrying about mobile data!

    • how do you do this?

      • Have money, will travel
(sync by signing in to Ulmon hub)

  • Do you have to download all the maps you want within the app for the one day before there is a cost also or can you download the maps at any time?

    • Download the maps free at any time.

Got this when it went free last year. Great app. Perfect for when you're overseas with no internet. Just remember to download the maps before you leave home.

    • Yes, offline apps like these are useful in other countries. I was saved by the Nokia/Here maps that come free on the Lumia's, because they work offline. I was in China, pretty lost, and the Here Transport told me where the buses were and their routes, all with no sim card or internet access available, lifesaver!

  • Got this a few months ago when it was free last time. Just got back from China and Korea, this app was fantastic, helped us figure out where we were all of the time, did not use any data, only the GPS satellites. Only have to remember for iphone you cannot turn on flight mode when overseas, because it also disables the GPS. Also have to remember when overseas to turn off data roaming and not pickup incoming phone calls.

    • Just take out your SIM :-)

This app works fine even when your phone does not have a SIM card. So, if you're worried about the costs of phone calls when travelling, just take your SIM card out of the phone before you leave home. Your Australian SIM won't help you in, say, Italy. If you need to connect when there (and the abundant wifi zones are insufficient), then you can just buy a cheap Vodafone data SIM.

Bonus: Since you left your SIM at home, there's no risk of losing your SIM in your luggage when you replace it with the Italian SIM.

Extra bonus: Nobody can call you for any reason at any time. Perfect for stepping away from work, and avoiding the inevitable conversation: "no mum, it's actually 3am here, yes, different time zone, yes, I was asleep, no I don't want to talk right now".

Ninja edit: What muncan said when I was typing this longer version. ;-)

  • 8th time free on iOS. Just sayin'.

  • regardless… its a bloody awesome app.
so handy when i was out of aus without a data plan…

  • Thanks OP, downloading now.

  • I have an Android phone and use OSMand for offline maps — very happy with it. It is also possible to use Google Maps offline for specific pre-organised areas.
