TGG $50 amex credit - What to buy for $250 ~ or $500 ~

Hi guys, I don't like adding to the thread clutter but I'm a bit stumped.

I registered my two amex cards for the TGG Spend $250 get $50 back and its going to expire next Saturday.

I'm really dissapointed in myself for not finding a use for it. Is there any sales on for electronics?
I'm going overseas too so I want to claim the GST on $500 spend (save another $45).

I missed the ipad air/mini sale. Now looking at Nexus 7 (should be fun to hold this rather than a 10" ipad 4).

Please take this down if its a stupid thread but being a real OzB'er I can't let that $100 go to waste & browsing through TGG site everythings overpriced. why couldn't amex do this with DickSmith.

I'm exactly on the same boat! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We can also price match items from DSE right?

    • hmm good point, forgot about the 120% pricematch. not as solid as the OW but hey

  • buy a TGG gift card or voucher.

    • i thought gift cards were excluded

      • It is

Purchases exclude Gift Cards, iTunes Cards, ASKO, Falcon, Miele and Hoover products and purchases made through concession stores in department stores or other retailers are excluded.

      • There have been others that successfully got an AMEX rebate buying gift cards.

I bought a $50 Target gift card and still got the rebate.

        • TGG sells Target gift cards?

        • no, i was referring to this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130947

        • So why did you use it as an example?

If you're referring to this deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130947), where it doesn't state that gift cards are excluded then yes you can buy gift cards.

But this is not the case according to the exclusion list I mentioned earlier.

        • Aw. I thought all offers have the gift card exclusion. ;)

    • term condition mandate gift card not allow. but interesting how they find out

Item description on sale voucher? How about buying something expensive and returning it for store credit? Not sure which stores will do this.

  • Isn't it in store only?

  • store credit sounds like a good idea (risky but good)

    or i might do this
