Agreed Nulon and Penrite makes really good oil. However, this oil is not cheap, its just that other brands charges well above premium for their oil that makes these ones look cheap. Recently, Repco has shown that a Castrol 15w-40 is worth 10 bucks retail price, I imagine they get the oil at wholesale price of $2-3? I would definitely switch to Nulon and Penrite ( very reputable ) if they are at the $20 and $25 mark respectively. Currently I am using Mobil super synthetic and Pennzoil platinum at about 30 bucks an oil change.
Having said that, theres nothing wrong with these oil as long as they are changed at specified intervals, this comes from a reputable mechanics that uses good old conventional castrol to put his car over 300,000 km and counting. his advice was instead of spending extra on premium oil, save up for car parts because oil is not the only thing keeping the car running.
This is the oil my mechanic uses Except-(10W-30)semi synthetic
If your cars old and goes through/burns a bit of oil its cheap but if you love your car and would like to get more than 5000klm before it starts to sludge up reducing flow/causing wear etc I'd recommend spending extra for Nulon or Penrite.
If changing from cheap oil like this to the good gear run some engine flush for ~10ks before dropping the old oil, obviously change the filter
