Mattress Topper - Is it really worth it?

Hi,

I started having a look at some Mattress Topper's after staying that the Treasury Hotel in Brisbane, and admittedly I prefer a firm mattress, but the mattress topper at the hotel was like sleeping on plush pillows.

Some of the more premium mattress toppers seem incredibly expensive.

ie.Sheridan's ULTIMATE DREAM BED TOPPER $699.95

Given its getting cooler, the wife would appreciate a topper, but the price seems hard to swallow.

What experiences have others had with their toppers?

Thanks!

  • I'm also interested to hear the mat-topper experience.

60bux for a single topper at ebay seem to have a lot of positive reviews.

  • Like you I have a preference for a firm matress. And like you, after staying at a nice hotel decided that a mattress topper for home would be a good idea.

It was nice for a while, but ultimately my firm mattress preference took over and ended up removing it.

  • I love a plush mattress. I stayed at the Sofitel in Melbourne and basically fell in love. I did search up the toppers but decided against it as it would require constant replushing and thats just too much effort.

I did however spend $240 on 90% duck down pillows. Zero regrets.

  • We have a lambs wool one. No need for electric blanket any more… very warm in winter and cool in summer. Don't get the cheap imitations… a good thick one … makes the bed a lot better also.
A good quality mattress (A H Beard) and a wool overlay… best investment you will make.

  • Yes, it's so worth it. Makes a firm bed feel like sleeping on a cloud. I bought mine from oo.com.au and for the price, I couldn't say no. With the infill, there's 600, 800, 1000 gsm, the higher the infill, the more expensive. I bought 600gsm for about $60 delivered (king single bed) and I love it. You probably should go for the 1000.
