I buy consoles cheaply end of life and only for exclusives.

Is it just me, or are the JB HIFI sale people all hipsters nowadays…

    • Totally agreed.

    • Should we do something about this? Maybe burn them all?

      • That's a bit excessive. How about torture? With classical music?

I thought it was a job requirement that sales staff at JB Hi-Fi must have a minimum of three facial piercings, at least 2 prominently visible tattoos (preferably Japanese or Chinese-inspired), males must have facial hair of some kind and females must forgo normal-length female hair and normal hair colours, in addition to having worse than 20/70 vision requiring correction via lenses so thick they can turn sunlight into a death-ray, and wearing clothing that could be placed inconspicuously on the floor of a crime scene without looking out of place.

I don't care what they look like as long as they have the correct attitude.

Unfortunately not every experience there is pleasant especially around the tech areas.

      • Yeah I find some of them are a bit hit and miss. Some stores have really good "game" people, while others just have someone who doesnt know + doesnt care about any of it.

My local JB staff In Canbezy have always been really good, whereas when I was in Brisvegas I avoided getting or trading in games there like the plague.

Why do you need the person stocking the shelf in the game section to be knowledgeable on games? They're there to work, not chat about games.

        • Sometimes being ignorant about the games can work in your favour though (eg. price matching).

Attitude is more important, especially around the tech area where I'm looking to spend hundreds or even thousands on some devices, I want an experience that makes me feel welcomed. Or I'd rather do my own research and buy it on the web.

        • Don't think you understand what I mean.

It isnt about chatting to them. If you want to pre-order something or trade something in, or be able a pre-order bonus, it's generally nice for them to know something. It's also nice to not just get basically snubbed or lip from staff members because you're after "games" of all things.

        • You tell them what you want to preorder, they enter it into the computer, you pay.

You hand over the game your trading in, they look on their database to see what it's worth, they give you the discount.

I still see zero reason for them needing to know anything about games?

        • I like how you specifically skip over certain things I've said just to further your own argument. This really isnt worth my time, have a fun life.

    • It's probably on the job application. Tattoos - tick, thick black glasses - tick, weird facial hair- tick

Same applies to places like boost juice…hot girl - tick, look good in yoga pants - tick

      • This should be how Boost juice markets themselves. "Hot girls in tights dancing around…..oh and juice or something".

  • Call of Duty Ghosts PS4 for $55 worth it?

    • If you like CoD games, yes. If you don't, then no.

    • +1

      No.

    • No. I got it for $25 (PS3) + $10 for the PS4 download.

I played it and think it is worth $35.

      • -2

        i think its worth $2

Went to EB Games in Garden City in Perth today, expecting a price match and was shut down… They said can only give price match with the actual price and not the stocktake sale 20% off price… Was a load of crap

    • -2

Well to be fair, this promotion is over. So how you expected to get the same price another competitor had yesterday is beyond me.
You don't go into Coles or Woolies asking for yesterday's price on the eggs and bread do you?

Price-matching where it exists, is always done on a current market price basis. If there is a current market price out there lower than theirs, from a physical bricks & mortar store/chain, then they'll match it.

Anything else (online, discontinued, limited stock, membership-required) requires some extraordinary haggling skills to get a price-match on.

      • read when singhbo posted his comment..

        • Meh, still not surprised.

EB aren't like Officeworks. EB's price-matching policy is not prominently displayed in any catalogue or store because they seriously don't want people to take them up on their offer. They actively try to avoid price-matching at all costs and usually make up bullsh*t exceptions that happen to apply just to your situation only.

Personally I would have tried another EB and picked a very young and green-looking salesperson.

  • i know the promo is now over but did they have 20% off PSN cards too?

    • Read the post?

      • i just noticed it thanks silly me
