  • where does the voucher originate? It says down the bottom that only originals will be accepted. Great find though

  • +1

    What's the BWS price normally?

  • +2

Got a couple last time - nice alternative to Baileys! Thanks

    • +3

How does it compare to Baileys?

      (I haven't tried O'Donnell's Irish Cream yet)

      • +2

Its great stuff, very difficult to tell Baileys over this in a blind test, I reckon. Baileys is fractionally creamier, thicker, maybe, but taste is identical. $12.50 is craaazzzy great price. Bought stacks last time it was this price.

        • +1

Taste isn't identical but i highly recommend this to my customers as an alternative to Baileys.

      • +1

It's made using Irish whisky, like Baileys. I bought a bottle of this last time it was this price and couldn't tell the difference between this and Baileys.

From my understanding, O'Donnell's uses a wine-based method of making it (rather than Irish whisky), but I'm not sure (likely as the price is always substantially lower).

        • +1

Yep, was going to say the same. Father O'Leary's, O'Donnell's, etc, all use fortified wine as the base, not whiskey. Similar tasting end product, but not the same IMO.

          TL;DR: Feeney's = awesome.

  • +2

Looks like much better and cheaper deal than Thirsty Camel's unobtainable deal of Bailey's for $18.

  • +1

Oh TA, you've done it again!

  • Thanks TA!

  • If you don't have a BWS nearby Dan Murphys will beat the price but you need to present the voucher

    • Tried and they wouldn't do it as there's no price on the voucher, and they weren't going to call BWS. So just went down the road and got 2 at BWS all the same.

      • I work for Dan Murphys and our new advertisement on entry board states we beat any advertised vouchers. They should have rang and bet the price.

        • Dan Murphys Coburg refused to call BWS. They said if the voucher doesn't have the price, they can't do much. They were quite busy, and maybe couldn't be bothered? No big deal. I wasn't going to argue. Plenty of BWS stores around.

        • +3

Definitely a combination of being busy and lazy. In future if u have a voucher they do have to beat it.

        • +1

Yep dan murphys are bcreasingly unreliable.
Was a tme when they would price match no probs.
Now they are going the dodgy officeworks route f playing hardball / sneaky.
          Maybe not all stores.

        • By how nuch do they have to beat their competitors price by a cent,a %..? Just wondering if it's worth the effort ?

  • nice price

  • anyone tried the creme brulee flavour? what's it like?

    • +2

Tastes like a mild caramel milk :) Nice for a change but nothing incredibly special (unlike the Baileys Choc Orange flavour or mint flavours which were fantastic).

Give it a shot, at this price you can't go wrong!

  • Great post, TA. Feeny's has been my night cap for a while now. It'll taste even more delicious at half the price lol.

  • +1

I got a bottle of each at my local BWS. Price come to $37.00 or so. Nearly payed it, but brain spun into gear and
questioned price, assistant scanned voucher again and price came down. So the voucher had to be scanned for each bottle sold.

Does this happen to other people ? You are thinking about the great deal you are getting, but the assistant has to put through some bizzare override/special code and you nearly miss out, unless you are focussed on the final price. Especially if there was other stuff you are buying.

    Great Deal TA !

    • +1

Ahhhh yup! Always, ALWAYS know the proper OzB price! I've had it happen a couple of times, then sometimes they balk at the price I want it at.. Frustrating!!

RE: This voucher, last time I got 2 bottles at one store and had to scan the voucher twice - exactly the same as you. I was all ready to pay then noticed the $$'s.. lol

      • I also confirm, it had to be scanned twice!!!

I guess two bottles two scans required to bring the price down $25

  • Hello all. Total Newbie here. How strict are they with the fine print "photocopies will not be accepted"?
    Great deal.
    Thanks!

    • Read the first comment :)

      • +1

Yes sorry. I did and then couldn't delete my comment. Is there a way to delete a comment you have made after you have posted it?
        Thanks!

        • +1

Don't worry. I wasn't real sure about the fine print either. I reread the post a few times. I printed it out in colour just to be sure.
But what is the difference between printing and photo copying - my printer does both. The quality "real" photo copy machines is very high.

        • +1

exactly !! what is the difference between a printout and a photocopy…

          stupid rule..

  • How long you can keep it after open? Do you have to keep it in the fridge?

    • +2

Keeps for a long time outside the fridge once opened. Months, I'd say. Possibly longer but I've never had a bottle last that long myself lol.

To be on the safe side, keep it in the fridge though (if you don't think you'll finish it all within a couple of months).

    • I read on the Baileys (or was is wiki?) That the cream would be the worry, but the whiskey keeps it good. I've only kept it in the cupboard, but I drink it within a month or two.

      • I had one that was opened and kept in the cupboard for a decade. I didn't realise how old it was at the time but it still tasted good and I didn't get sick from it.

  • Can anyone post a best before date of these items ?

Just wondering how long they will last…

    • june 2015

    • Apparently, my local store had all 06/14.

Would be good to know what others have?

      • mine is 04/15

Just a heads up, Acland St (St Kilda) BWS refused to do it for my mum. She just explained to me that she grabbed two bottles and the person serving her tried to charge her full price for one and half for the other (as a couple other people have reported above), but unlike them, when she pointed out that the coupon states a maximum of 2 bottles at half price, he simply refused to do it. She said well I'll just take one then and he said that'll be 25 dollars then, and that it's Buy One Get One Half Price. Which it clearly isn't, from the coupon and from everyone else's experience. He was really rude and horrible about it too, so she gave up and left.

    • +8

That was very rude of them, specially it being a mothers day special, Oh…! the irony. You should go in on her behalf and tell them to learn how to read and defend her (honour) rights to buy cheap alcohol.

    • +2

I faced similar situations too. I was allowed to buy one at $ 12.5. I bought one then. The staff was quite rude & inexperienced.

I went back 30 Mins after lunch. I was served by another staff that looks like managing the liquor section.

      He did $ 25 2 bottles , no worries.

      Thanks op

  • +1

Grabbed 2 at Maddington WA. Asked first and chaps behind counter said no problems. Needed to scan twice for price……great Mother's Day gift…….thanks to the OP…!!

  • +2

Anyone tried having them scan it on their phone? Would save me quite some hassle

    • +2

      yes. I did that.

They input the bar code instead

      • +4

Tried it last time, their scanners are terrible, even zoomed in it wouldn't read it.

        • the staff said it's impossible to scan over the phone
instead, he manually enter the barcode, and it automatically brings the price to 50% off

    • just redeemed two bottles using the voucher on my phone, no worries. As above they just input the bar code. They have to do it twice though, first time it came up $37 and I had to tell them to do it again.

  • +2

OK, I did a blind tasting. I got my wife to pour me some Baileys and some Feeneys into identical glasses.

I had no trouble deciding which one I liked better. It had a nicer (slightly darker) colour, a stronger and more pleasant smell, a slightly thicker consistency, a better mouth-feel and a more complex and pleasing taste, milder too. Every single aspect was more refined. And it turned out: it was the Baileys.

That said: the differences, while easily noticeable, were quite small. Given the massive price difference this is still a great deal. But I'll probably use the bottles up poured over ice cream or similar, not drink them straight.

    • +1

Completely agree. Massive fan of Baileys. But I'm very impressed with how decent Feeneys is, for the price! I can easily notice differences, but I'd never turn my nose up at it. At this price, grabbing many bottles!

  • went and bought two today for $25, the girl even gave me the printed coupon back to use at the other BWS in the shopping centre and had a laugh about it, so dont assume all BWS employees are butts like what seems to be said here.
    just some are.

  • My dad just bought one in the corner of heatherton road, ten minutes later try to buy one myself said it was sold out, and according to my dad there were 10-15 bottles there ten minutes ago. Maybe they just felt that it was too cheap. Sad Life!!

  • Thanks OP! Purchased two bottles tonight using voucher on mobile phone. The guy just typed in the barcode! :)

  • Ooh I wish there was a bws near me

    • If you are in Sydney, how can there not be one near you ?
      BWS

  • What is the best before date is on your bottle?

    • 24apr15

  • I think mine say 08/08/14. I bought two, they each came in a metal case, they look really fancy.

    • metal case? photo?

      • +1

the irish cream flavour comes in the metal case. creme brulee is bottle only.

        • mine just the bottle :(

  • Yeh, got the metal case too. Last one at QV. Cashier had no issue entering the barcode number manually, off my phone. He was taken aback how cheap it was.

  • mmmmmmmmmm….loving my recently-acquired half-price irissssssshhh cllleammmm :)

  • +2

Got me two bottles last night. Also used the $10 credit from Everyday Rewards Card for buying a $50 Myer gift card just minutes before OzBargain, which reduced the bill to $15 for the two :)
