Toner question

A quick question regarding toner for laser printers ….. does it really make any difference whether it's the genuine product, or simply one that's compatible?

Our brother HL2142 that was supposedly empty 18 months ago (did the tape trick) now finally is, or close to it, and the 'compatible' version is around $30 compared with about $65.

Has anyone dealt with InkStation before?

Never mind, it seems I've found the answer on whirlpool - genuine it is.

    • I use only non-genuine toners with my Brother lasers, and I've never had a problem.

I have noticed genuine toners on ebay from time to time at good prices, though. They're not very common, but if you want to go genuine, and don't want to pay as much as a whole new printer (or more) for your toner, it's worth keeping a watch.

I also have a Brother HL-2142 and have never looked back since switching to compatible toner from Toner Station on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Toner-Station/Brother-Laser-Toner-…

Fast service and a very well packaged, first-class product in every way. Forget $65 or even $30 - it's only $17.45 (including postage!) to try one out and if you like it and then buy in quantity, they're even cheaper.

    • At that price, and given that you have used it with the same printer, more than happy to try it. Thanks heaps.

      • For a personal or low end laser printer, it is worthwhile considering third party toners. Or, consider getting a new low end laser printer. HL-1110 is $39.60 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/143265), but not as good as HL-2142.
