So I was reading about this yesterday and now all record of it has disappeared from ozbargain…
Mod: The deal was removed per request of the company. Here is what happened.
Well I don't see how 'it worked out' as he lost the interest for several months on his money and was most likely stressed to the hilt. Only positive is that he got the outstanding money back.
Obviously, this is how Fiona can operate her business and live her lifestyle. Get other people's money, invest it on the short term money market, then only give it back when forced to do so, by which time she has some other person's money to do it all again.
No didn't lose any interest as it was initially on the CC interest free period, and by the time the statement for that transaction became due I had lodged the disputed and don't need to pay that portion of the bill. So I was never actually out of pocket, which probably led to me waiting for things longer than I would have, if I was actually out of pocket.
I wasn't stressed either, just frustrated at Fiona/AA, and then a bit gobsmacked at what the perceived level of incompetence by those at the bank handling my dispute. Once somebody finally understood my dispute (and I really don't know why it was so hard to understand) the refund was processed on the same day.
If anything I regret not doing a Paypal dispute to begin with. It seems that even though such items are not covered under the buyer protection program, a few others have had (speedier) success getting refunds that way.
Put in a $100 order on 14 October and just received it.
I am 100% sure they are making a loss on this, maybe a $100 order lessens the pain?
I spoke to a guy who worked closely with the woolies bulk order gift cards team and I was told woolies will never give more than 5% unless the org had 100m+ in sales, at which point it becomes 6%.
I just want to make back the money I paid for the Kajita membership.
Well to do that you need to order a lot more than $100 in gift cards … do the calculation.
Well received the $400 order before as well so nearly square
To be financially ahead of simply using one of the motoring associations (RACV etc.) 5% off Wishcard deals you need to purchase close to $900 worth of cards from Affinity Alliance when you take into account the cost of the initial membership. Worth noting.
K I will buy another $100 and another and another sigh…
Although, those 5% things aren't free either.
@Reddog888:
What do you mean by 'those 5% things aren't free either'? If you are a member of one of the motoring clubs you simply walk in ask for one and pay say $95 for the $100 card, I happen to be only 3 km from an RACV office. Naturally, if you order them and have them posted there is a fee for the postage, is that what you mean? If so it is minor compared to the $55 to $65 fee for membership of a company or charity.
Just for the record I actually successfully (eventually) purchased $1500 worth of Wish cards from Affinity Alliance using a Lung Foundation membership. I chose them as they are a charity and believed that at least the fee I paid would be used in a good cause. It did take 8 weeks and a lot of battles to get the cards from Fiona. Many broken promises, lots of lies told and disappointments.
@Reddog888: No RACV or RACQ here in NSW, besides membership to the aforementioned organisations are not "free". Entertainment book and frequent values are not free either. Even if u get them for free, you are paying something for it, e.g electricity.
Oh please feel free to be pedantic. If you already have a motoring organisation's membership then …….
What the hell has electricity got to do with it? Did you not consume electricity to sign up with Kajita and then again to order your Affinity Alliance card(s)??
No RACV true BUT as you are in NSW then you have the NRMA do you not?? Try google next time.
I have had enough no logical discussion to be had here anymore. Good luck.
END.
@Reddog888: Reddog, thanks for coming here to share your story about AA - the more we can share the better we will be at assessing their credibility.
However, in response to your comment:
as you are in NSW then you have the NRMA do you not?? Try google next time
…you should know that NRMA does not offer the 5% off gift cards. NSW is the only state that doesn't have the RACx 5% off gift card benefit. Which isn't a big deal for WISH cards because EB covers this, but it has become a problem for Coles 5% off cards.
Like PBG said no "free" discount wishcards from motoring organisations in NSW.
What other options are there? Entertainment book? Frequent Values? Are either of those free? People get Frequent Values for "free" from Red Electricity which is what I was getting at, but then again you are paying something to get this so called "free" discount.
Well then why aren't affinity alliance being investigated? Why isn't this all over the media?
I'm not saying what you are saying is wrong, I believe it, but why hasn't this got out? I doubt the ozbargainers are the only ones.
Received another $100 order by the way, though it took 4 weeks and one follow up email.
So these guys are still going?
Looks like it, although I wouldn't hold my breath if it was a large order.
Anyone received an email from this mob recently?
asks you to log into google doc's to download some "Important information" but the link isn't to google's website.
