Just browsing on Amazon as thinking to get another USB thumb drive but the PNY deal posted recently had expired.

Found a standard price totalling USD 45.04 which is even cheaper than the previous deal.

    It's USB 2.0, however.

Except this is USB 2.0 and significantly slower.

Not saying it's bad, but it's not comparable to the other deals. I'd hate to think how long it would take to fill this drive up!

About 33.9 minutes at 480Mbps (theoretical max top speed of USB2).
In practice it's probably double that, and then only if you transfer large files.

      • double the
        max theoretical speed

        nice !

      • actual transfer rates aren't quoted anywhere, so they're more likely to be 20MB/s or less, so more like 2+ hours to fill it

        • Actually, that's what I meant. Double the time. These things never reach 480mbps.

      • Most USB2 sticks don't reach anywhere near the max possible USB2 speeds.

  • the other PNY deal is still up?

  • You're right. I should have paid a bit more attention. Saw the 3 in the drive description when I did a search for USB 3 and didn't do much work digging around :(

    • Attache 3 means it's the third Attache drive in the series. Nothing to do with USB 3. Only the PNY Turbo is USB 3.

I'll post again since my past post got removed. As i said an extra $3 USD gets you the PNY Turbo 128GB USB3 flash drive with 197mb/s sequential read speed and 104mb/s sequential write. Far better value in my opinion.

  • Why would anyone bother creating a 128GB flash drive than only supports USB 2.0 . Senseless.

    • You could store heaps of music on it and then leave it attached to your car stereo?

      • In a way that's a fair point, but if going by that argument then may as well have just made it USB 1.1 . Even cheaper :)

      • Haha… sorry had to laugh at this. Bought a 16GB flashdrive to use in my car. Guess what - my 2011 in-built Hyundai car stereo does not handle more than 3000 songs. So check on that first :)

      • Somebody who wants to save $3…lol…somebody using an old laptop/desktop without USB 3.0 support

  • USB 2.0
