Hasn't this been around for years?

    • Yes it has

  • Dupe, but posted some time ago

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84026

  • +1

Hasn't this always been available for a while now?

    EDIT: Ninja'd. See above.

  • +3

Dupe? Hmm maybe, I'm not quite sure

p.s. I think you need a number with them? But you can easily try some fake numbers - there's no verification process or anything.

    • +2

      Or a $2 SIM.

I'm still using my account even though I haven't been with Optus for a while.

      • $2? I ain't payin' that!

  • +13

I thought it's common knowledge, can't imagine ozbargainers still paying $20 for a movie.

  • i thought it was some free $10 online movie voucher :D

  • -5

Been doing it for a long while.

  • This groupon deal is still available https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139432.
    I got 2 hoyts tickets + $12 credit for $12.

  • +4

I had an old number which I hadn't used for years but still continued to purchase optus movie tickets with it but unfortunately I can no longer log in as of last month… Anyone else with similar problems?

Does buying a $2 sim actually work…? Just want to make sure before I do purchase one.

    • +2

Same happened to me, couldn't log in as of sometime earlier this month.

    • +1

      Same thing happened to me.

    • +1

same here, I sent an email to ask, they replied that the number was no longer with Optus

    • +3

Haha oh my god I'm so stupid, I've been complaining that my Optus account no longer works and I just realised I was a telstra customer this whole time. I thought it was only valid for mobile holders but it works for bigpond accounts too. I was too use to using Optus i had forgotten all about it.

Big DUH. Feeling really stupid atm lol.

This repost of a deal saved my long weekend, for that i will +1! Thanks

EDIT: just realised telstra is only with Event/Greater union cinemas… Guess I need that $2 sim afterall since hoyts is only minutes away. Got excited too fast didn't I? I'm having an emotional roller-coaster at 12 midnight…………

      • +1

        noob

    • -1

      It's $2. FFS

    • Same. But i registered again with same number but different email. And it works.

  • +3

Sigh, wish it was still Event Cinemas instead of Hoyts. :( Have to go out of my way to find a Hoyts these days.

    • +8

Get a Telstra Prepaid and take advantage of the "Thanks Movies" offer.

      • +3

The Telstra deal also lets you book at the $10 price instantly - no need to mess around with having vouchers sent to you. Massive win in my opinion.

      • +2

yeah love the fact that you don't have to pay any transaction fees too!

only downfall with it is it doesn't let you buy tickets for public holidays or saturday nights after 5pm.

      • Thanks. No hoyts in Darwin so was annoyed when they changed. Now I have to see about a cheap Telstra number.

  • or Telstra's budget phone line at home $21.95. cost effective for adsl, and cheap movies

  • Every second time I get my tickets an error occurs and the tickets aren't emailed to me. Then I have to call TLC Marketing (which seems to be closed all the time) to get refund. I always get the refund but it is becoming a hassle. Hope system reliability is fixed up, out of interest does any one else have similar issues?

Otherwise good deal - always use on my phone when going to the flix.

    • +1

I've had the same happen to me at least 3-4 times now as well over the past few years…started getting frustrating

    • Happens to me when I paid via paypal. I always have to call them up and they process the order manually. However, when ever I pay via credit card I get an instant confirmation.

  • Anything for Village cinemas? Not a fan of Hoyts :(

  • Ive got like 10 hoyts movie tickets for sale if neone wants to buy for like $8 each or the lot for like $70

    • When are they valid until and what restrictions on the vouchers?

    • where do you live? and same questions as above, I'll buy the lot if you live near

  • +3

Optus have been doing $10 movies since the beginning of time.

  • -2

I was hoping this was a free voucher

  • +1

It may be semi obvious, but it should still be in the description that you need an Optus phone number.

  • Does not seem to work for naked broadband accounts. I've contacted TLC marketing more than 1 week ago, but no response so far.

  • -1

Considering I get my tickets for $4.50…

    • I get the $10 tickets but damn you are doing well for $4.50! How do you get those? Thanks

  • Asks for a mobile no or acct no to prove ur an optus customer, know a way around??

    • +1

Google any optus number and use it

  • Dupe

    • can u repeat that billygoat

  • ..And I thought your name was altomic

    • yeah, people get confused about that.

    • yeah altomics like ur super hero name when fighting financial crime on ozbargain hehe :D

  • Sorry for the neg, but just too many conditions with Optus' Movies offer now.
No availability for Event (Village) Cinemas, have to buy 'Vouchers', some of which have to be posted, and can only be redeemed by booking certain ways, and expire in a few months, and cannot be used after 5pm on Saturdays to name a few.
As others have pointed out, other options like what you can get with a $2 SIM from Telstra may be better.

    • +1

      What Better options are these?
Seems like I can't get tickets to my local Reading Cinema from Telstra and would need to travel some distance to take advantage of theses 'better' conditions………………

  • +2

I still watch movies at Hoyts, but I reallly hate how you have to exchange the pdf confirmation file with the actual tickets. Wth.. so what's the point of ordering online if you then still have to go through all the trouble getting the actual tix? With Village I can just use the printed pdf confirmation or simply show the usher from my phone and I'm in. Stupid system, Hoyts..

  • -3

Picked up 4 for Highpoint Melbourne. Tickets say not redeemable after 5pm on a Saturday which is pretty much when everyone wants to see a movie. I'm getting sick of having to comb through ts and cs to prevent getting screwed. This info should be made present up front.

  • Do $2 SIMs work for this anymore?

I got a $2 SIM the other day, but can't register it on YesTickets site because they say its not eligible or may take 7 days for a new service.

Problem is, this $2 SIM expires in 7 days because it needs to be recharged.

    Maybe they've clamped down?
