Billabong Men's Maverick Watch - Silver $69.95 + P/H (RRP $399) @ COTD

20

Ive been looking for a watch to replace my previous one which died a few weeks ago.

Checking price comparison on google, I've found the watch is selling at cheapest price of $299.99 (https://www.google.com.au/search?q=billabong+maverick+watch&…) except for catchoftheday of course.

It came at a good time for me, as I just got the email with the $20 voucher from the easter special they had last week, so got the watch for under $60 delivered.

Information on the watch:
Stainless steel case and band
Japanese movement
Chronograph display with three sub-dials
Date window
Case diameter (mm): 45
Water resistant to 200m (20 ATM)

  • I'm skeptical that a Billabong watch could ever really be worth the $399 price tag. There's nothing special in the construction or materials. It's not even like Billabong is an upmarket brand either to justify jacking up their prices.

Edit: that doesn't stop the current deal being a good price though, I am questioning the marketing tactics.

    • I agree, definitely not worth $399. But I got the rrp off Billabong, COTD dont advertise a retail price on the product at all.

    • I don't doubt they would actually put such an insane price on a piece of garbage like that as the RRP. There is a reason their share price has gone from $12 to .45c

  • "Quality timepiece" from a surf/clothing brand….. BS RRP.

    • Probably made by Fossil like most of the other fashion label watches.

  • Proabably owned by same group such as just jeans group or whatever foreign investment group and definitely all made in China .

  • Why not go for $599 RRP…

  • Mine arrived, it was opened (no plastic shrink wrap), muck on the watch itself, and the seconds hand and the stopwatch cannot be zeroes properly (hands unaligned). Basically it looks like its a FACTORY SECOND. I have emailed them to see if they have one still in its shrink wrap to replace it with, otherwise I will have to call Queensland for the warranty or get a refund.
Looks like I was their catch of the day.

    • Thats a shame. I got mine and it was in shrink wrap with the clear bits of plastic on the front and back. And it works fine. Unfortunately there is no tool to remove links though. Probably dont need one, just haven't looked up how to do it as I only got it last night
