LEGO 20% off at Toys 'R' Us - Including Rarer Sets

210

Yep, it's another 20% off LEGO sale, but Toys 'R' Us seem to stock some of the sets that are not so easily available at other Aussie stores like Myer, Target, DJs and Kmart. Such as…

The LEGO Movie Rescue Reinforcements (otherwise a LEGO website exclusive as far as I can tell) $79.99
http://www.toysrus.com.au/lego/the-lego-movie-rescue-reinfor…

Lego Back to the Future Time Machine $47.99

LEGO Minecraft sets $39.99

LEGO Cuusoo NASA Mars Curiosity Rover $39.99
http://www.toysrus.com.au/lego/lego-cuusoo-nasa-mars-science…

They also have the discontinued LEGO Monster Fighters The Mad Professor and His Monster listed for $63.99 (I just paid a fair bit more on eBay - GRRRUMPF!)

If buying online, postage starts at $9 - with no PO box delivery - and inexplicably it's often cheaper to buy items individually rather than together.

  • The K-Mart in Moonee Ponds had the "LEGO Monster Fighters The Mad Professor" on sale for $55 last weekend…may still be the case?

    • You're killin' me, rjblakel! ;)

      • i saw it too, how much did you paid for it flumpf?

        • Hmm, how do I make the font smaller? About $80 posted.

Win some, lose some I guess.

        • ouch. i thought 55$ was too much. reckon it would go cheaper if i came back next week!

Love me some Lego. Expecting a baby later this year I should stock up… For the baby of course…

    • I babysit my friend's little boy a couple of days a week. My buying him Duplo rekindled my long latent LEGO lust. Much to my bank account's chagrin. :(

Still, I think it's the most important toy that any kid can ever have. Even if they're old enough to have their own kids…

Sign your kid up to the Lego Club. It's a small once off fee for life, and you get a few magazines and catalogues during the year, and an exclusive mini-kit at Christmas.

Slightly off topic, anyone know where to get ghostbusters Lego?

  • I might hold off on Star Wars sets as May the Fourth is coming up and Lego Shop@Home usually throws in an exclusive freebie this time of year. It's a Darth Revan minifig for 2014, though still hasn't been announced for S@H AU.

  • Off topic - anyone know where i can get harry potter lego. Apart from the usual ebay sellers.

  • I can clearly see the appeal but I don't understand why LEGO costs so much, it's molded plastic.

Are these good prices or typical prices?

    • +4

Yes but QUALITY molded plastic that lasts for generations. Totally worth it! These are typical on sale prices. Department stores regularly have 20% off Lego, sometimes 25%. Big W seems to generally have the cheapest everyday prices.

Lego is expensive, but jive this….I handed over all my old toys to my two boys including buckets of Lego, star wars figures, GI Joes, 1st generation Transformers (metal innards, not this cheap plastic crap you see today), etc…..and the only thing that has survived without damage are the Legos.

Legos are built to last, inspire creativity, and are the only toy that are fun for parents to play with too.

    • They're typical prices as sales are common, however not-so-typical for sets such as the ones that I listed as they're not widely stocked in department stores.

    • We pay more for Lego in Australia anyway.

Some Lego executive once said something along the lines of, "The reason Lego costs more in your country is because those are the prices we feel consumers there are willing to pay."

      • Don't get me started on this! There's a fab LEGO Movie 'Sea Cow' ship that's $250 in the US. It's $390 here, and only available through the non-discounting LEGO website. This is what I was sent by LEGO when querying this…

"Finding the right price for a toy isn’t easy and depends on a lot of considerations. To name a few, our marketing team looks at statistical data about a country’s population, transportation costs, currency exchange rates, local laws and taxes and the prices of other toys. No two countries are exactly the same, so the price may be different from country to country. Especially the diffrent taxes need to be considered. The prices on the US site are without VAT and taxes as they differ from state to state."

        Helpful? No.

      • that's true of just about anything in Australia

    • bought quite a few copy sets from AliExpress over the last couple of years , roughly a 1/3 of the lego price. Some brands are poorer quality, Enlighten is one I trust, they seem to take old lego ranges and redesign them a bit, probably just enough to avoid legal action.

Sorry to Lego purists but I just need cheap toys.

Also dont think you will see this in the Lego range soon!

      • UGH! That's like drinking malk in front of your Sorny TV… I do understand the need for cheap toys though - LEGO are by far the best in their field, but their stuff's bloody expensive.

      • you couldn't import this into Australia right?

  • +1

The Star Wars mini-fighters are $0.79 cheaper at Target till the end of the month. Not much but it adds up if you're getting a few!
Thanks for the heads up on the DeLorean though!!

  • Thanks for this
We will get the 1000 piece basic bricks (4635), on sale at $63.99, to add to the kids 500 or so random bits of lego Friends and animal sets.

Amazon UK has this at 41 GBP so it is actually cheaper here taking exchange rate into account, and before the 15GBP postage charges.

    • Can u link please

  • Damn I have wanted that Opera House set for a while…$320…AAHHH
