It says in store but then on the page it says online only

yep, crazy. Says 'online offer only' but then 'click & collect' and 'home delivery' are both greyed out.

I had a major blue with a store manager only 2 days about the nature of these "online only" deals.

The store had plenty of stock but wouldn't release them for the "online only" price. Which made me quite angry considering they make mention of in-store stock on the webpage and nothing to indicate that you will pay a different price in-store. I consider it bait and switch.
The store manager seemed to think that the words "online only" excuses them from any liability.

Go to Kuraby store in BNE, staff there pretty much all say; "oh we've been told to accept that price".

Though on the 1/2 bluray Saturday I had a little trouble, but they still did it.

If not, act like a dumb customer, have a pad there with your online item in the bracket, and say something like, I was ordering online to pickup now…I just saved you guys the trouble of going around to get it all.

      Worked for me.

Heck it's the same 'ducking' store…..they gosh darn well should accept the sale.

If you check the desktop version you will clearly see a separate box on the right hand side that says $40 save $28 check store stock. After checking the store stock for the $40 offer you will find the stores with stock for this offer. However, the stores refuse to give you the advertised offer (Edit: Although at least one person, see above, has succeeded).

BigW customer service is saying that they have made a mistake, have reported this to head office but head office has done nothing now for over a week to fix the webpages. In fact, they are continuing to produce more of the same.

The online only offer is clearly below and separate from this, and is for Home Delivery.

    • Same here, made a trip out and tried to buy a bunch at Box Hill, Vic on Sunday and was given the whole 'I stupid for even asking' type response. The staff acted as if they were part of a completely separate company.

Found this before easter. From the very beginning it shows online only offer, but 'click & collect' and 'home delivery' are both grey. It means no stock online at all. Tried to go to their store immediately, but in store price is 68.00 or 69.00.So there's no deals here.

It's been happening many times with BigW lately. Suggest to take them to the authority for false advertising.

I'm in. How do we do it ? If nothing else, it should be pretty good leverage to get that price in-store.

      • +4

I'm in also. Suggest you take a screen shot before they make any changes. Not sure the store manager can help. The one I spoke to agrees with us that the website is wrong. He has also taken a screen shot and is putting in a complaint. Ultimately we need to convince Customer Service (who know there is a problem) to actual do some Customer Service instead of trying to sidestep this.

  • Amazingly it's in stock at a lot of places in WA. So's the WD Elements.

  • Yikes!

Never mind the smartass comments, mate - BigW is perpetrating an ongoing consumer fraud, repeatedly advertising non-existent 'Online only' specials with zero stock available, when their stores DO have stock, but won't sell at the advertised price.

And the advertised price is BS too, because there's a hidden freight component that an online purchaser would get hit with if they were to get lucky and score some stock.

      • The reality is, they can do whatever the hell they want to until someone reports their behaviour for investigation. I can guarantee you no one has bothered to do that but they have plenty of time to whinge on internet forums.

  • I want the 4tb price again :)

  • Says $68 for me..

  • Looks like they've fixed the price on both drive:(

All their hard drives had massive online discounts last week. Anyone manage to get one before they suddenly became out of stock for online purchases?
