Commonwealth Bank suffers from outage (again!!!) $$$

I can't believe this!!!

It is the third time in 12 months where the CBA payment systems packed it in.

I got stranded at a petrol station this morning and could not pay, like the lady in the article and probably another 10 customers at the station.

Does anyone have any insights what they are doing (or not)?

How were you affected?

Thanks.

  • It's slightly frustrating but the amount of ATMs commonwealth have and their kaching app shits on their competitors.

  • i was using my card when down i just had to sign for every purchase i made this morning even got cash out aswell.

  • you should always have a backup payment method

  • 3rd time in 12 months, I like those odds, so I'll stay with them, as suggested always carry cash for emergency use.

The bunnings store was in a huge frenzy.

  • I just signed in wollies… But yeah, this is one of those times a second card comes in handy

So what happened, OP? How long were you stranded for? How did you end up paying?

Curious how they'd manage a situation like that. I often live dangerously myself (by not carrying much cash at all, I rely solely on my CBA cards lol)

    • I am curious to know this, I also don't carry much cash.

    • obviously he paid in buckyballs :)

  • Have you heard of cash? I always carry a few hundred on me no problem. Rely on cards and this happens.

I'd rather carry no cash and have it in my offset account and/or earning interest. Never have more than $40 in my pocket (also safer if a wallet gets stolen or lost - never happened to me but I'd rather not risk it) I have cards from at least 3 different institutions however, so unless it's the card machine it shouldn't impact me.

      • What interest? 4% is pathetic. And who mentioned a wallet? I only use a money clip, no cards.

        • BALLIN'!!

    • Rely on cash and this happens. Oz Bargain node

  • Wouldn't surprised me if it's an indie servo, most of the chains should have their own processing hardware so if it's down, it's the uplink from that servo that's dead.
