INGDirect - $250 Gift Card for THE ICONIC for New Customers

ING direct currently has a promotion which offers a $250 gift card for THE ICONIC online store. Here is the promotion

To be eligible for the $250 THE ICONIC Gift Card (“Gift Card”) you must be a new ING DIRECT Orange Everyday customer, register with the same details that you use to apply for your account, apply online and deposit your salary by 31 August 2014. Salary means a deposit of at least $1000 per calendar month from an external bank account.

This promotion was sent to me via the ICONIC newsletter. On the newsletter, it states that I have been given a unique sign up code. Did anyone else in the Ozbargain community receive this email and is it really a unique code?

I tried putting in a random code (6 letters followed by 2 digits) and it was accepted. This is the email I received from INGdirect shortly afterwards.

      I have no idea. You could try but it is probably safer to choose one (either the $250 gift card or the $50 cash)

          Hi guys, just called them and they confirmed this promotion.
          The only downside is, you can't choose this promotion and get the $50 promotion lol.
          You can either choose this Iconic $250 gift card promo or choose the $50 cash promo.

          They said the promo code is sent you by email when you sign up online for a new account, and then you can use that code to register for this promotion.
          Put like op and few other people said, random numbers are still getting accepted on the website lol!

          ING says you should get that code from Iconic. There is no promo code from ING or Iconic when you sign up for an account. It must be a targeted promotion.
          What are the chances that Iconic would be verifying those random codes for $250 vouchers? I reckon, pretty high.

    Can we do a once off deposit of $1000 before Aug 31st, receive the gift card and then cease to use the account?

    Would my CBA account in my name count as an external account?

      According to the person in the ING call centre I spoke to, yes - a CBA account in your own name is fine. As long as it's not from another ING account that is in your name or a joint account where you are one of the account holders. It doesn't have to be a direct deposit from your employer.

    I wanted to let you know i have a general code for new Ing orange everyday new customers to get the Iconic $250 gift voucher deal for the first 5000 people who register with this code and qualify, its "lovingINGDIRECT". Since the promo started I think they changed the terms to offer their own code. Go to www.ingirect.com.au/theiconic. I got this code when I ordered from the Iconic and I registered my order number (which you can do also).

    Just received 2x $250 vouchers via email (one for me and one for the wife).
    Both of us were existing customers and neither of us bothered to close existing accounts.

        There really isn't more to it than that.
        I guess if there is a trick it's just ticking "No" to "Are you an existing customer?"

    I just received a $100 and $250 voucher. I used the $100 voucher with their $10 sign up coupon, then something I ordered was actually out of stock so they gave me a refund and a 10% off coupon. I used that 10% off coupon with half of the $250 voucher, and the Click Frenzy coupon with the other half.

    3 shirts, 2 tshirts, 2 pairs of pants, 4 pairs of shoes and a jacket. RRP $639.40. Cost me $5.76.

    Some SERIOUS hate going on about this promotion currently over on the ING DIRECT Facebook page. Seems they are saying some applicants are and some are not, eligible for vouchers even though staff have told customers previously they are entitled and are on the email list. Will be interesting to see the fall out….

      Maybe give ING a call. All my friends who signed up to this promotion got their vouchers at least a month ago
