Surely some software or VLC could pass that?
The subscription is only for watching recorded video remotely on your smartphone. You can watch recorded video on your home computer for free.
It is really, really easy to set up. The main selling point is the included PoE EoP adaptors - it sends the video over your home electrical wiring. Great for homes that aren't wired with cat6, and more robust than wifi.
So this comes with EoP and PoE adaptors? That seems overly generous. Are you sure? They're not the same thing…
No, that's right. The power supply for the camera is both a power injector with an Ethernet connection to the camera and half of an Ethernet over power bridge. The other half is included in the master set.
You can skip a lot of the hardware if you already have a PoE switch.Interesting setup. Thanks.
So what is included? The camera, monitor and installation disc? Any chance to add one more camera to the whole setup?
This is the other camera you can add on http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/home-security/logitech/al…
I'm looking for a system with 4 cameras, will record to a cloud storage setup or SD card and has smartphone viewing. Basically, this system plus 3 add on cameras, but the cost comes to $591 half price. Looking to spend $400 ish tops, like that DSE Swann special a while a go.
Yeah. I know nothing about security cameras but would like to have one. Anyone knows what exactly the difference between Logitech and Swann and how to look for those with higher night vision and wireless easy setup ones? Thanks
depends on which swann model, some of the costco ones go upto 1080p. This one is only 720p.
Does anywhere actually have them in stock? I want an add-on camera and it doesn't look like anywhere in WA has one.
Correct, you can only watch Live video on your smartphone for free.
Many reviews indicate that the system regularly drops out and other issues. This seems to be common with most cheap systems.
The real problem with all of the domestic security systems is the video quality. Whilst the pictures may appear great, these are not high quality and will probably not be high enough resolution to identify a face or a number plate. For this you will probably need HD-SDI.
Swann systems in the main are low quality, but cheap.
Can't buy online?
We have one of these and a secondary camera. It is literally the easiest HD Video security camera setup you can buy. Its more or less plug and play.
If you're not comfortable with port forwarding, setting up dynamic DNS services, wiring Ethernet through your ceilings / PoE, and (especially) navigating poorly translated Chinese technical configuration screens, this is for you.
That said, for similar money (at RRP) you can get slightly better cameras (that do 1080p) but they're the aforementioned Chinese ones that are more difficult to set up. At this price I feel its a steal.
Weve had them for a year now and not have had any dropouts or issues yet.
Been using one of these bad boys for well over a year now. Nothing but good reviews from me, night vision is spot on too. Here's a video of a creeper wondering around my property last month.
I'd happily pay full price again, was actually going to get another camera for around the house since the above incident, but now the add-on cameras are soo cheap I'll end up some extras fo sho!
Indoor units are also on sale. Picked up a couple of add-on cameras today for $59 each, reduced from $158.
Reviews of this product are mixed. Software and hardware seem to be buggy. Mention is made of an annual subscription to view recorded video, about $80 pa in the US.
