  • Good timing, I am looking for a 2-bay NAS.

Whats the advantages of this $199 2-bay Nas storage? comparing to a $99?

I can see that this Thecus has more USB2.0 and USB3.0 interfaces.

    • the Thecus has an intel atom processor.

  • Seems to be about $245 on staticice

    • Conclusion from the linked review:

"While the specs are impressive on paper, and the unit does turn in a speedy Write performance, we can't recommend this NAS. It looks cheap and with performance that generally matches its appearance, despite a price point that rivals that of more robust and better-developed NASes. It gets a half a star bump for its Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM."

      2 out of 5 stars.

      • +1

thats in the context of the release price

saying that i think ALL 2 bay nas is a waste of money if its over $100

at $200 you may as well get a 4 bay

        • Yeah I agree

      • Well, that is a review with a 320 USD price tag. We are talking here about a 199$ AUD price tag that might make it better to put up with a cheap looking device. And to be honest… who looks at their NAS… like ever.

And for the read speed… 32MB/s means that it is way beyond the speed required for wireless and a 100MB network connection. The 1000MB connection would find it slow but only when steaming/copying large amount of files.

  • Pity, the HDMI port looks good & XBMC is sweet

*The XBMC application found in our N2520/N2560/N4520/N4560 units is a beta release. We are busy working closely with Intel on an official full release.
