Well if you dont mind waiting 14 hours in Singapore. You get there at 5pm and connectinng flight is at 7am. You will need a place to sleep which might end up costing more(but i guess that is irrelevant since oz bargainer are tight ass and dont even sleep).

The other option is only $20 more expensive and only 3 hours transit.

Also want to add that JetStar also charge more for check in baggage. $53 for 20kg and $67 for 25kg as oppose to AirAsia $43 for 20kg and $51 for 25kg. I still work out cheaper with jetstar but take these factor inconsideration when comparing and decide which one is the best deal for you.

Great price from Melbourne, but transit time is a deal breaker :) Then again, we are all tight arses right?

There's been a lot of publicity on some Malaysia Airline flight.
Was it some massive sale or somethin'?

  • Don't limit yourself to return flights with the same airline.

$214.65 (+ luggage) departing MEL 22 OCT 12pm. Only 3 hour stopover (arrive HCM at 9pm local). Then get airasia back.

    • i think the deal is only available as a return package. One way ticket cost more.

    • That's a good advice. I had a bad experience with Jetstar on my return trip. I called them 48 hours before the departure date from hcm, just to confirm my flight, the CSR told me I'm not on that flight! After she consulted with her supervisor she said there's a seat for my wife and I, but, I'll have to go to Darwin, then Melbourne, then Sydney.

Any price sub-$500 return to Asia from Oz east coast is a bargain - me thinks many of the folk here are spoiled beyond belief.

And the MH370 jokes/comments are getting old.

  • Singapore airport is fine to sleep in, they even have lounges where you can view the planes landing, which you can fall asleep in. If you are going to Vietnam you should only pack a backpack, keep it light. The amount of 'Crap' you will buy over there is insane, so you will want the 20K baggage for when you return. I would sleep in Singapore for 20 hours if I get a flight with return for only 500$

    • The most transit-friendly feature I've seen in that airport would have to be the recliners with a built in alarm clock. Want to sleep for two hours but worried you'll miss your flight? Relax in the recliner, having set the timer for 2 hours which will then vibrate the seat and gently shake you awake when the countdown expires. Brilliant!

I booked these flights last week heading over for 4 weeks all up cost me $418 return with 2hr 50min stop over in Singapore on both flights can't complain about that.
