    Is it fried?

    • Yes and it's beer battered!!!

  • Maybe its for playing baseball with ?

  • I got this camera a while back and it is only good for mounting on helmets, boards etc. I've yet to find a decent way to mount it on the body for running etc.

    • See this is the reason I want a GoPr, for its size, I can mount it under my sun visor on my mx helmet but with the contour you cant cause its so longgggg

    • Headband mount?

      Cap mount?

  • I thought the Contour company filed for bankruptcy? Maybe excess stock?

    • From their website: "When the predecessor ran into trouble late last year, a passionate Contour camera owner purchased the predecessor’s assets to ensure that the world’s best action cameras remained in the market and available to users. Contour entered into a new, exciting era under new ownership, has moved to the mountains of Utah and has hired a new world class team."

      • Yaaay, this should stop gopro from being complacent.

  • Is there still warranty on these?

After the new owners took over… is it business as per normal?

Contour became active on their FB page in December last year and they've been slowly chipping away at warranty claims from the old days. It seems that (at least in the US) that they're trying to help people out with tech support on their existing products.

Clarke Capital are the company who bought out Contour and were existing investors in the company prior to it going belly up. As part of the purchase, Contour moved to Utah, which I believe is where Clarke Capital is based, to take advantage of executive/management support of their parent company. I reckon this is what let Contour down in the GoPro battle. Contour was generally ahead in form factor (I mean really… GoPro wearers look like Tellytubbies) and technology (wireless, rotating lense, GPS), but GoPro was a better run and marketed business.

I'm hoping that it goes well for them, because I purchased a +2 not long before they closed shop.

  • Has been as low as $175USD a few weeks ago on Amazon but this is about the cheapest is has been, contour were bankrupt but they're trading again now. Some investor helped them.

  • I have 2 android tablets with USB OTG ports. Can I change settings on the Contour while out and about without a laptop? I've found this app so far https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.dg4sfw.cont…. Anyone used it before I take the plunge and by a Contour?

    • Looking at the comments, it doesn't work with the Roam2, only the Roam.

That said, I've modified the settings on my +2 exactly zero times while out and about, even though I could do it through Contour Connect. Once you've figured out what works for you, I reckon you'll hardly ever fiddle with it (unless your plan is to do timelapse, in which case, I can see the point).

      • OK. I was thinking that might be occasion for recording in 1080p but then switching over to 720p to get the 60fps for slow-mo later. The comments seem to indicate that the 60fps option was missing.

However, I read this review article http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/contourroam2-red/… and it says that resetting the Contour will bring it back to the default recording mode of 720p60fps.

So if I can set it to 1080p via the app and then resetting it to 720p60, then it would be a useful workaround.

        • I had a very similar idea when I bought the +2, given that it has a physical mode switch that allows you to pre-configure two recording modes. I had mine setup for 1080p@25fps and 720p@50fps, then I realised how much of a pain processing 1080p is most of the time. Plus, I find that 50fps just looks better for mountain bike and trail running footage.

So I believe mine's now configured to do 720p@50fps and I basically never change it.

  • i use this recorder as opposed to GOpro

    PRO:
Slim and sleek, great cam overall with 2.5-3hrs of recording time at 60fps 1080p

    CON:
Not many accessories that come with it.. and the ones that do come with it cost ALOT, $40-70AU. I ended up getting a universal mount and drilled holes in my cap to attach this to for fishing and camping trips

I'd still recommend this cam :)
