    Navig8r NAVCAM-HD

Can you get ones that do 3D ?

No so clear i have one my self, you can hardly read number plates even if the car is infront of you. Get a 1080p+ video quality, due to the movement the video speed becomes blurry especially at night its quiet dark.

Guess it depends what you are after. I figure that for only $48 these are OK (better than nothing) and would show someone pulling out in front of you and can be used in your defense.

Being able to read number plates is good, but all of the high quality units are big bucks. Also, I would stay clear of a GPS version just in case they try to use the data against you (paranoid?).

GPS information can show that you were there.
but cannot be used to prove that you didn't speed, since that requires a "government approved GPS device" which nobody other than goverment has access to.

        • What is this rubbish?

You probably wont get a speeding ticket from the data but in the event of an incident the GPS logs will certainly be taken into account. They will attempt to determine all the facts; combining this with other data, skid marks, damage to cars etc etc to determined what happened.

        • everyone in comments is pointing out that the footage isnt actually from this model, but possibly something like a GoPro.

      • i don't doubt it does the job correctly but then again the blurryness can also be used againts you if you cant prove the other guy doing the fault!
Then again for its price its decent and works fine. mine melted on the dashboard due to the heat :/ cant press any of the buttons anymore or take out the memory card :/ haha..

        • My Chinese Car DVR also melted. I was hoping a "name brand" may be better.

theone4u is making great points here
Look at the amount you spend on servicing, cleaning and maintaining a car
Add insurance to that and here we have people happy to neg a comment which
Contains information vital to know to make an informed decision
To buy a so called crash cam that cannot even pickup closely number plates is a total joke
When it comes to making positive id of potential hit and run offenders
Look at the heaps of CCTV images of criminals we see. Exactly like photos of Bigfoot
      Poor quality and blurry

      • I agree, good points, but just like a home alarm system or surveillance system, these will not stop in incident occurring. They will most likely not get you a reduction in insurance.

But they do give you some insurance that you may have some protection from the lying a$$hole that tries to claim you did something wrong.

I do have a unit in my car, but so far (with a limited budget) I have been unable to justify buying of the top units for $400+.

But you could get some great footage for Youtube!

Personally, I would love to see something like a GoPro that could be used in car and for Outdoor Pursuits.

    • Thanks & updated.

    • Yes a lot better

    • That one is also on sale at the moment for the same price at Target. I'm wondering how much better it is? There's also a pro version, which is much squarer … and expensive! $288 on clearance http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/GPS…

    • I could not find this product on the navig8r website. am i missing something?

    • That one looks like the G1W cam that I bought from eBay a while ago.

  • Been looking for one with GPS for a gift. Think I found it :) thanks for sharing WNK
