Possibly trying to get some customers back after the recent mass exodus of live connected users (owned by vaya) after the plan hike, mailing stuff ups, billing stuff ups, and general poor handling.

Be mindful of the per mb billing, if you come from a per kb billing you'll possibly find the same data limit very restricting.

    • My $11 Live Connected plan is due to expire in a few months. For those whose plans have already expired, who did you switch to? Any recommendations? And are there any providers left who don't do 1 MB block billing?

      • +1

I was on the same plan as you. I have now ported over to Telechoice on their Kogan special.

        • Can you get that without being an ex-kogan? Is it a 12 month contract? or pay by the month cancel anytime?

        • +2

From what I can tell, you don't have to actually be ex-Kogan to get that deal, you just have to sign up via this page . However, it appears that while the prices are slightly lower than LC, they use per-MB billing instead of per-KB, so I'm going to keep looking.

        • +2

Telechoice use per 10KB billing and their cap include international calls.

        • Oh cool, they do indeed. Suddenly, they're looking more attractive…

      • +2

The plans expire? Did you get an email telling you that? I'm on the same plan

        • +4

Most people I know signed up a few months before me, and they all got an email telling them that once they hit the two year mark, the price would be jumping from $11 to $23 and the data allowance dropping from 1.5 GB to 500 MB (although this has since been upped to 1 GB). But don't worry, to reward your loyalty, they'll give you a whopping $1/mo discount!

        • +1

Looks like you need the $20 Vaya Power Plan. That has 1.5GB data and looks to be same as your old $11 Live Connected Plan with 4G added.

        • That'd be OK, except that they do per-MB billing.

      • I went with the Telstra "family and friends" iPhone 5 deal from a while back, if I hadn't managed to get that deal I was going to go with the Kogan/Telechoice one.

      • I changed from my previous plan to Virgin's $19.95 post-paid three-month expiry. Been 2.5 months and haven't recharged, mainly because I mostly call/text Virgin numbers, which is free.

I have a friend on the old $11 Vaya plan and it seems like the internet never works..

Vaya is the kind of company you need to be wary of. Yes their plans are very cheap and reasonable for such customers. The service is not very good and there are occasions where you may be overcharged or credit card rejected (causing a $10 dishonour fee).

I personally don't mind them (I have been with them for about 1.5 years now) but for those who aren't very good with paying on time or likely to exceed data/calls, maybe stay away.

    • Ive been a year using vaya, occasional drop outs connection, but mostly steady.
Like any other provider, they will give you hard time (thats more likely your fault for the late payment or over use data cap)

the company lost my trust now, i'm on the telechoice plan, much better coverage with telstra's 3G..not going back anymore

  • +2

LiveConnected was great value, VAYA not so much…

    • Vaya connect you to the 4G network so it comes at a premium. Prices are high because of the data.

Taking that into consideration its not too bad…

Still have 11mths left on my $11 3G plan so it will be awhile before I go plan hunting.

  • +1

I've been with Vaya for 1.5 years, I've never had any problems and am very happy with my $11 plan.
That was until 2 days ago when I got overcharged with a $28 bill..
I sent them a message, no reply yet

    • Had this a few times now, they always offset it in the next few months but still annoying as.

      • I sent them a message, no reply yet

        Don't expect a reply. Ever.

    • +3

good luck in getting a reply…. one of the worst companies to deal with when you need to contact them.

Look at the pdf file of the T&Cs: disconnection fee $30 (in the event you don't port out your number). You can't just abandon it like Yatango deal last time (too bad Yat now charges $10 for the SIM card.)

    • SIM Pack fee of $20 is still applicable. Available for Power Plan (V2) applications received from the 1st of March 2014 to the 31st of March 2014 and activated before the 31st of March 2014 "First Month Free Access" means you will have a credit on your account equal to the value of the full monthly access fee of the plan that you choose.
    • When you click through the screens the sim charge will be $0
Did you even click the link the OP posted?

      • Yes I did, hence why I posted what I did :)

        • It's funny that, I actually got what I posted off @ http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile&4Gsimonly …. And they have since changed it, so I <3 all the neg votes over my comment….

        • -1

Well, clearly you didn't click OP's link then. His/Her link is to facebook not to the link you just provided.

        • This gets funnier, His link goes to their Facebook, which their recent post is

          https://www.facebook.com/Vaya.Australia/photos/a.13976440611…

Which links to http://www.vaya.net.au/ right….you still following?? Then on their OWN homepage they have this "FIRST MONTH & FREE SIM
Sign up to any of our Power Plans (V2) and get the first full month access fee for FREE Plus receive a FREE sim until March 31st.
          "

WHICH takes you to the link I posted.

Vaya barred my calls when my call usage went to 101%..they sent me text that I have exceeded usage so calls will be barred…

When I received my bill, it was $130 for the excess usage! Very disappointed… I have also paid in excess usage for data a few time in the past.. My whole saving from cheaper plan with Tpg in the past is blown out… Wish I could go back to my old Tpg plan.

  • +2

Just remember, there is a $30 termination fee. It's free if you port your Vaya number to a different carrier then there is no termination fee.

  • I've had a bit of a look around and have decided that I will go with Vaya. I don't really have anything to lose as the sim and first month are free. Also they do 1kb Billing now for data which is a good thing.

    • +2

Wait, really? When did that happen?

      • +3

Edit: Mentioned above for the disconnection fee. It's a bit of a trap.

Everyone considering Vaya should read and understand the Additional Fees and Charges.

      • +4

The CIS still says they do per-MB billing. Where have you heard they've switched to per-KB?

  • +3

Not worth it. You'll be screwed over sooner or later

  • I have often had data stop working for periods of time, and when it went too long ive had to call them up (very very painful. Worst call centre ive spoken to). Not too impressed with their coverage, i notice it drops out alot. It is cheap, im on the $11 plan but since ill be pushed to the higher cost ill be porting out to another company.

  • Vaya sucks. Look at their reviews.

    • +4

Have you read Telstra, Optus or Vodafone reviews lately? Apparently they all suck. Some just cost you more.
