Great player. Have had no problems with mine at all.

  • Can this device be connected to a NAS/Samba drive?

    • Doesn't look like it has WiFi, and it doesn't have an ethernet port, so looks like it plays media via USB only.

      • Yuck!

  • Can it act as a renderer?

I want to select the music from my Android and have it played on this device.

    • After finding time to look at specs, no wifi, no ethernet. No good for me

  • how about hdmi 1.4 for 3d bluray iso?

  • What will be the different with wd live?

  • review on whirlpool said it's better than WDTV Live. If anyone looking for a media player without internet connection and just play off your external hard drive then this will be better than WDTV Live. I will try it once my WdTv goes belly up.

    • That's an extremely open ended time frame

  • Anyone know a good deal on the smart media player which has wi-fi connection?

    • Over the years this has consistently been the wd tv live and live streaming

  • Does that have WIFI inbuilt?

Just a FYI, this player doesn't recognise NTFS past 2TB. For a no-network-connecitivty media player, It's a pretty big pitfall.

    • yeah its a really big pitfall I have heaps of movie files that are bigger than 2TB

      • Lol, 2TB fills quick.

      • Not individual files. Any hard drive formatted over 2TB, it won't read.

        • why don't you split your 4TB hard drive into 2 partitions of 2TB each? That will work i guess (i'm not confirm it, but sounds logical in theory). Someone might want to clear this up.

Might only read the 1st partition, I just bought this thing, pretty average, I was excited about it supporting DVD-ROM, and "DVD playback with menu navigation & Blu-ray playback" this does not work, I suspect it can read .ISO files but not direct discs, I tried unprotected DVD-Videos, no go.
