Dan Murphy Crown Ambassador 1 Bottle + 24 Crown Lager Only $99 with Free Delivery

30

Only 7000 Crown Ambassadors are made a year and if bought separately you’d be paying over $95 for a single bottle. Add to this a case of Crown Lager for only $99 and you have king sized value + free delivery…

Crown Ambassador Reserve was first released in 2008 and pioneered a new luxury style of beer never seen before in Australia. The 2013 Crown Ambassador has an appealing lifted fruit salad and citrus aroma over caramel and woody nuances from the three months aging in French oak barrels. This is as a result of fresh Galaxy hops, picked in March and added to the kettle within 24 hours. These lifted notes will mellow and become more integrated as the beer matures. On the palate, Crown Ambassador has a rich, caramelised malty flavour, balanced by bitter-sweet hop characters, finishing with a smooth, full-bodied mouth feel. Only 7000 individually numbered bottles of this prestige larger are available; Crown Ambassador Reserve will only be available for a very limited time.

  • Has anyone tried this? All reviews I can find are pretty rubbish.

    • if it's anything like the beer, it probably is!

beer doesnt stand for any length of time so a 7,000 limited run doesnt mean much if it goes off

        • +1

decent beer (well… certain styles) gets better with age

Crown lager is NOT decent beer - so the above does not apply

The ambassador is an OK beer, just CUB is trying to capture the cashed up miners market segment

Had one of these bought for me. It was a good beer, but nowhere near worth $99, or even $60 - if you take into account the normal price of a slab of crownies.

Interesting it uses Galaxy hops, as they are from Myrtleford VIC and used a lot by Bridge Road Brewers, Beechworth.

Their Chevalier range would compare best to this Ambassador Bridge Road Brewers Chevalier Range, but they cost $14 a bottle. Big difference.
If you can find them in your local bottle shop, buy them. They are all amazing.

As for this deal, it is good if you really want to try it - as I have never seen it this cheap. Only if you like Crownies though.

  • I am amazed by the Crown brand, I truly marvel at their genius marketing. They have sold Crown beer for a long time as a premium brand and many people drink it believing they are drinking good beer yet if you were to blindfold test the beer I would dare say it would never be picked as the premium brand. It's amazing that you can have a product like this and make people believe they are drinking good beer just through your marketing.

I've gone off topic but really hats off to the marketing dept behind Crown, amazing.

    • It's all to do with their label and packaging

    • That's true for most anything, cars, tvs, dishwashers. People buy brands that spend the most on advertising, that's how marketing works

Samsung spent $14billion last year on marketing their brand (profit was about $8billion). I wonder if they will announce how much they spent to get the oscars selfie shot?

    • Agree. Way overpriced and mediocre beer at best and the shape of the bottle doesn't make it any better.

  • Bargain if you hate money

  • So 24 bottles are usually around 40$ and they add one more bottle of a premium beer for $59 … Am I reading that correct??? 1 bottle of beer for $59. (And not by a little premium brewery … we are talking a release of 7000 bottles! (Total value $413,000 … or when prices normally 11,666 (—> profit over 400,000).

  • I remember selling a 6 pack of this to a customer for over $500. Most expensive 6 pack I had ever seen. The bottles back then came in a real fancy packaging.
