  • Does it come with a full remote control (ie can stop. play and skip)?

      The comments in this deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123371

suggest that the UE600vi has the mic/controls and the UE600 doesn't. They also suggest DSE has trouble telling the difference sometimes and sends out the wrong ones :D

      • From the review provided by OP, these earphones should have the remote/mic:
"…the current Logitech UE 600 comes with a remote and microphone"
"Logitech has dropped the remote-less version of the UE 600 completely with the latest revision"

Review was a while back (Mar 2013), so hopefully, we are getting the "latest revision" of the earphones.

Previous deal was also $47 from DS https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123371

Available for $47 delivered from the DS eBay store http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LOGITECH-In-Ear-Headphones-UE600-…

    • Thanks, updated original post.

  • Very good price/value, good finding!

  • The UE600 do not have a remote, the UE600vi do.

Last time this deal was on DS advertised the UE600vi but sent out the UE600 and it was a nightmare trying to return them for the correct product (I got lucky unlike many others who were unsuccessful)

Remote or not these are fantastic headphones, tempted to grab a set of these for when my UE600vi eventually break.

    • +1

I guess the main question for me is… How's the sound quality?

      • +3

        Very good for $47

        • -1

You can find better for $47, alot better. Soundmagic E10 and PL30, thank me later.

        • Here's another opinion which says ue600 trumps both from Head-fi.org:

          http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/multi-iem-review-310-iems-co…

        • Meh each to their own. Soundmagic E10's rival my Sony XBA3's (which originally ran for $350!), to me the UE600 are too hissy, the hissiest of all the IEMs i have owned, and they broke, twice (just like UE Super Fi 5's did too, tho they actually were very decent). $47 is still $47, I grabbed my soundmagic for $30 (inc shipping from the states), they are cheaper and carry far less hiss (same for PL30's).
I can find other 'audiophile' charts that would rank the soundmagic above these.
          http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15243
Higher on chart is better, they sit higher than Super fi 5's (which are arguably much better than the 600s).

        • +1

Not saying you're wrong…merely giving other opinions for comparison sake. When my pair arrives and have tried it myself, perhaps I will agree with you.

I only have the Westone 3 and UE Triple.Fi10, which belongs in a slightly different price bracket, so will not be fair to judge against UE600. But if it sounds almost the same to me, it will be well worth the $47. By the chart that you posted, say the Super.Fi5 = UE600, the price of $47 instead of $169 would certainly make it a better value IEM and certainly jump a few ranks up the chart?

          Nice chart, btw.

        • Damn u have the triple fi 10's? I wanted them when they were on special for $169 but missed out :(

It's not just hiss tho, every UE headphone I have tried broke within first year, if i go UE again I want replaceable wires.

          waiting for a UE900 special…

Also, where to buy UE900 directly from Logitech/UE? I tried to look the other day but all I saw was Boombox <sigh>

I say direct as I got a 40% discount for the mess up of the Triple Fi 10 purchase (that went through but wasn't honored).

        • It does seem that UE has an issue with durability.

I bought my first pair of triple fi.10 ~5 years ago, and 8 months in, the cable broke loose from one of the earpiece, and the wires inside are just hanging free. I emailed UE, and they were happy to send a replacement as it was still in its 12 month warranty. But after about 10 months of use on the second pair, the sound on the left side started to disappear…and you have to wriggle the connection on the other end for a while for the sound to come back. I eventually gave up on it, and although it was still under warranty, I went and bought the Westone 3 instead (An excuse to buy something new/different!). I have had it for the last 3 years and still use it every day while the Triple.Fi's is somewhere at home collecting dust. Sound wise, they're quite similar, both very diverse across all genres - the Westone produces slightly better mids and clarity.

Hope the same issue does not occur on the UE 900 as it is a replacement to the Triple.Fi. If so, there are comparable IEMs that are quite popular e.g. Westone 4, Earsonics SM3, Sennheiser IE8 etc

        • I'm pretty sure the UE900's are detachable cable at least… I think.

        • I have different experience .. with my UE200s being my bang-around pair used for activites with higher risk of damage (skiing, boarding etc) and they have held up fine through a lot of abuse. So I have high hopes for these 600s as they will likely take over that role.

That's an interesting chart … but I'd take it with a multiple grains of salt. I've used a number of the cheaper IEMs that they have ranked up high .. and none of them sound like my 4Rs … although this chart shows them as almost identical. I wouldn't say the differences were ultra-dramatic … but they are obvious.

        • I think that's where dfkt's own interpretation of value comes into the equation. Cost i believe is factored into the ranking system. It's about sound + cost.. but i might be wrong.

So whilst a cheap budget IEM is ranked high (next to an expensive one) that doesn't necessarily mean they are close to equal in sound quality.

My panasonics RP-HJE900's for example, sit just above the Soundmagic E10's. The pana's seem to handle that very low 'atmospheric bass rumbles' (think Boards Of Canada tracks) alot cleaner, better clarity and seperations, but it isn't night and day difference.

If I had to recommend a pair, the E10's win due to cost (the panas were about $180ish RRP). 3-4x the cost for not a massive difference.

After trying the Sony XBA3's (that were $350RRP) I most def prefer my panas and they were grabbed for $100.

I'm now curious to hear $400-800+ priced IEMs to see if they really are worth saving for…

        • Not sure where you're situated, but as I was buying a headphone stand at Addicted-to-Audio here in Melbourne, they happened to have a pair of Sennheiser HD800, Ultrasone Edition 8 and Edition 10 plugged into an amp for people to audition. Was never intending on purchasing on any of them, but was curious what $1000+ headphones sounded like. All sounded absolutely incredible compared to what I have at home, but far far too expensive than what I would pay for headphones.

In saying that, they do have high-end IEMs listed on their website, perhaps they may have some in stock for people to try out before buying?

        • Im sydney (well blue mountains… dam melb has all the cool shops).
I'm always wary of headphone stands, mainly because u don't get to know what type of set up they are being passed through, no doubt expensive and better than what yer actually going to use them with…

Case in point; I have a pair of Superlux HD668B cans (http://www.headfonia.com/superlux-hd668b/ , they cost $30), for a long time I used them as desktop pc (gaming and music). Even then I ran them through a Fiio E7 portable amp, sound was decent. Then I managed to grab a Desktop DAC amp called the Fiio E9. When docking the E7 in the E9 you can make a USB DAC. When running the same Superlux cans through this rig completely changed the sound, absolutely no hiss (as its no longer using internal soundcard of pc), incredible sound I have only really heard from $250 cans… all for $30. But it's not really $30 is it… once u need the amp etc.

Point is same headphone connected to very different equipment. Even Bose sound stands sound good lol.

From hygiene perspective IEMs are not even returnable (unless faulty).

        • By "headphone stand", I was just referring to the stand which stands on your desk to put your headphones on when you're not using it: http://www.wooaudio.com/products/wahps.html
Nothing to do with how the headphones were amplified.

However, i do agree that some headphones are quite sensitive to what amp it is paired with as i own a few amps and cans myself. It may sound great with a cheap amp but horrible with a more expensive amp. It really comes down to your own experimentation to find the sound signature you like.

        • Oh i see… lol i do apologise. So u could just lift them off and try with whatever audio equipment on yer person? That's cool (and a first, dam melb just keeps getting cooler). Usually i see a little 3.5mm cable coming out of a 'wooden' box and you can try yer own equipment there or listen to what they have inside the box.

        • Ya … that makes sense.

I'd be curious about the higher priced IEMs as well .. but I'm guessing at that point the benefit would not come from better IEM hardware, but from fit. I'm guessing something custom molded with worse tech-specs would sound better than an amazing spec but off the shelf model … but I have no proof for this.

        • From memory, they had a whole bunch of amps against one wall, and all the headphones against another wall, and you just choose the headphones and plug it into one of the amps, so you can see their exact setup. You can either listen to the CDs they have in store or there's a 3.5mm cable you can plug into your own device. It was more like a showroom/office than a store. So none of that "Hot Price","Stunning","What a Deal!" bs signs around.

I was kinda in the main room waiting for my headphone stand to be brought out from the back, and all their cans and amps was just sitting there so I tried it. I was quite surprised that they didn't leave anyone to watch me as the gear they have in that room was pretty expensive. The Ultrasone Ed 10 alone sells for ~$2500 in Aus and it was just sitting there with a pile of other headphones. There were other rooms that I didn't go in, so not sure whether they have IEMs to audition in there.

      • +3

Agree, because sound is the main function?
I almost have a pair of headphones in each room now, thanks to Ozbargain.

So…quality review/worth getting. I have only 3 rooms to go.

      • Do any of you guys have the pioneer nc31 earphones? I'm just wondering if this is worth the switch

        • +1

          I do.

I wouldnt say that these offer significant sound improvements over the NC31s. However, the NC31s are active noise cancelling - they are not your typical In-Ear-Monitor. These IEMs, on the other hand, are passive noise-isolating.

Depends on your preference, I suppose.

        • Thanks for your reply Eivad, I think I'll hold off on these then! Cheers!

  • +1

Good IEMs for that price. Pretty typical single BA sound - much better than the Sony XBA1's though. Very quick and clear, but lacking in bass punch for those who are into that. Really small and comfortable too.

    • XBA1's are horrible value even at $40, I hope these are much better, at least better than the R1's.

  • I'm after some bassy IEM's. I've currently go the RHA MA-350's which do a decent job. Are these much of an upgrade?

    • +1

Definitely wouldn't consider these if you're after strong bass - or any other single balanced armature headphone. Good for clarity, not so much for bassheads.

  • +1

Most reviews say they are very good earphones. Light but clear bass with decent mid and high range.

Many have mentioned that they break easy, especially around the connector. It appears the wires fray and break very easily.

    • I agree with this sound review.

I have had them for 3 months and use them a lot, riding to work, gym, at work in front of my pc and so far there are so signs of fatigue.

Big positive is that for IEMs they are super comfy and don’t fall out like many others I've owned.

      • How would these fare running?

I expect I should probably seek out some more sport specific ones to ensure they don't fall out.

        • I have no problems with these when running, every now and then I have to give them a little push but I am yet to find a non-sports headphone that doesn't.

        • +1

Personal experience - very poor for running. I ended up returning and getting a pair of senheiser wired - they are AMAZING.

        • +1

Do you know the model number of the Senny's you have?

        • +1

I bought a pair of Bluetooth Jaybird bluebuds X for gym/running and they're the best I've found for their use.
Little on the expensive side, but if you sweat a lot while running or working out then the lifetime sweat warranty is invaluable. I've taken these out and had sweat dripping all over them, still perfect.

    • They are extremely hissy and at low volumes, and yes it is more than likely you will lose one channel within first year of use.

  • Thanks OP, just ordered Click and Collect. Really didn't need more IEMs but have only read good things about these.

  • +2

Does anyone know how better/worst these ones compared to Klipsch (image S4) in-ear ones?

    • +1

I think you'd fine these are less bass inclined

    • +1

as ycon said, these are balanced (flat). if you enjoy bass heavy music then youd be better off with the klipsch image line as they produce better bass

  • These are pretty good for single drivers. Nicely balanced.

I do prefer my Brainwavz R1 and Sony XBA4 for daily listening however.

    • +2

The R1's are in similar price range but the Sony's are 7 times the price, so hardly a fair comparison.

  • +5

Are we buying those because of the discount or because we need the headphones?

    • +1

      Is this a rhetorical question?

    • i vote discount

    • +4

this is stolen from cycling rules but applies here:

While the minimum number of headphones one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of headphones currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of headphones owned that would result in separation from your partner.

    • I actually was thinking of buying some last night so this came at a perfect timing.

      still couple left at belconnen.

  • so quick… all sold out for my area :(

    • DSE re-listed on eBay now with $4.95 shipping (3 Left at time of edit 1:55PM)

      • SOLD OUT ON EBAY STORE

  • So the remote doesn't work with android??

    • This model has No remote. the UE600vi has. (see earlier comments)

  • for those in the know. if I go into buy these headphones, are there any comparable headphones or similar quality and price that anyone would recommend as an alternative option available at Dick Smith?

  • error creating order?

    • -ditto-

  • still available at Burwood Westfield

  • +2

Picked some up at lunchtime, been listening (MP3 on iphone) all afternoon.
There's no mic or controls on these.
Definitely on the 'bass lite' side on the iphone, but listening on the hi-fi at home there's much better bass. Sound is very good compared with most in-ears I've had (mainly cheapos). Using the comfi foam tips they're very comfy(!) and noise isolation very good.
    Very happy, many thanks OP.

  • How does this one compare with the Yamaha YER500 (priced at 49.95 at DSE)?

Also if you Click and Collect, how long does Dick Smith allow for you to pick it up?

  • I am pretty happy with these, but I am not an expert, but have bought quite a few of those suggested on ozbargain up to $80. They sit comfortably and don't fall out.

  • It just goes to show ridiculous markups on Logitech products

    • They're on clearance

  • tried the whole day for click and collet at Burwood. Keep getting Error creating order message

    • +1

would have been quicker to drive there?

      • Was at work the whole day :P

  • Awesome earphone quality - I got these over the Klipsch S3…
Cables bust after about 9 months as I have ended up buying 3 pairs..
I always bought them from the Logitech Shop for about $45

  • For any Gold Coasters, Robina shopping centre is the only place on the coast with them. Had 12 pairs today.

  • guys, are these headphones really worth $47 ?

  • Remote most likely wouldn't work for Android. Out of stock anyway ah wells

  • +1

I own these headphones and the short answer is no, they are not worth it, even for $47. These are not Ultimate Ears Super Fi 5 replacements, they do not sound the same, and their worst trait is very audible hiss even at low volumes. The only person who will be happy with these are someone who likes Metal and loud volumes to drown out any hiss (they better hope there are no 'quiet' moments in the track or that hiss will be easily heard again).

For $47 take yer money and buy Soundmagic E10's (can be bought for $30-50), or Soundmagic PL30's (same price). I have yet to find a better budget IEM than these two.

    • I have owned many a pair of IEM's in various price ranges and find it very hard to believe that headphones in this price range (not to mention their full price) could hiss at all.
Sounds like you may have a faulty pair and should probably contact the manufacturer.

      • my thoughts exactly

  • +1

Did I mention that I got a second replacement pair? They hissed too… either I'm very unlucky or they are just bad.

I do not find it hard to believe, look at the prices of Beats and Skull Candy crap that exists.
Anyway, I already said that the difference between Soundmagic E10's and Sony XBA3's is not night and day, certainly not worth the 10x price increase. The truth is, most people don't know or have nothing to compare to, that's why.
All companies that have built up a reputation will sell overpriced stuff, look at Sony, Apple, CK etc. Don't tell me we haven't all at one point or another found an equally decent product at a far lower price than 'brand' stuff.

All i said is that they were hissy as hell, please refer again to that spreadsheet again (or below, i'll link u again) and you will see dfkt has 'Lots' for hiss under every UE headphone he has tested (included the famous Ultimate Ears UE 11 Pro's, which he ranks 3rd, Price $1150! Still has 'Lots' of hiss lol.

I just shared my thoughts that's all, Soundmagic are similar priced and offer far less hiss. FWIW my current IEM of choice is the Panasonic RP-HJE900's (ranked 14th, which interestingly enough offer virtually no hiss), and I picked these up for $100AUD. Maybe I just can't stand hiss or hear it more and find it harder to blockout than others…

    http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15243

    • +1

All I can hear is hiss now :(

      • lol, did u buy a pair pippen?

        • yes.. tried on a few different devices, on very low volume hiss is definitely there

        • They are the most hissy I have ever heard, and not just those ones but all UE i have tried. To me UE = hiss lol (but everyone seems to love them.. go figure)

        • are you guys using apple products? cos I just noticed if i use it on my phone (nexus) they're silent/fine. As soon as i plug them into my MBA theyre hissing away.

And boy is it loud! its only when media plays..if you stop it they will hiss for maybe another minute then stop.
Soon as you hit play it starts again.

  • Sold out at Warringah Mall even though I ordered yesterday morning and it told me click and collect was available. Not really surprised given its DSE.

  • Spend yer $47 here instead, you'll be happy for the price, trust me. http://www.minidisc.com.au/headphones-earphones/inear-earpho…

  • bought some and the right earphone was faulty, and had to return it.

    all sold out, very sad.

anyone have suggestions for a different pair around the same price?

    • -2

Did u not see what I wrote above (link to minidisc). I suggest you read this entire thread.

  • Just picked up from DSE Nunawading VIC. The sound quality is simply stunning. Please note these do not have any kind of volume or track control and are straight 3.5mm 3way plug-in.

    • any more in stock?

  • Thanks,, op.. nice find.

It sounds better than my $80 sen cx300.

Enough bass for me. Very good mid and clear high.

I love listening to concerts. It reproduces nealy all instruments correctly, clearly in the right position. The vocal is 20% closer than my cx300. Sound stage is not as wide as big head phones.

Noise isolation is good enough for use in McDonald's and any other fast shop. Please dont use on busy roads , costing your life.

No complaints about $47 price point.

At first, i couldn't find them at store because they lock them with other high end headphones, like beat, sen……. haha

  • It appears they gave me the vi instead of the normal. Any difference apart from the controls to make me go back to get the non vi? One better than the other?

    • Same sound quality with extra features. Good luck on you

  • I've received email from paypal saying dse had full refund my order… :-(

    • Me too, wtf?

  • in store is $47. Ask them to scan the price in the system

  • My order status say "Awaiting Fulfillment". Does anyone get any idea of its meaning? Thanks in advance

    • +1

Instead of saying "Good night" to my GF - I just say "Awaiting Fulfillment", its easier that way…
