Yamaha HTR-3066B 5.1 Channel AV Receiver, $264, Harvey Norman

60

Walked into HN - floor price for the HTR-3066B was $398. the RX-V375 was $344. I asked the Rep what the difference is. He says "HTR-3066B is the same thing but exclusive to Harvey Norman." I asked him why the HN model was more expensive - he didn't know. I told him the web price was $264 - and that's what I bought it for.

so so price - used to be $247 everyday and $168 in boxing day sales

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/128372

    • $168

thats ridiculous for yamaha quality (such as it is)

    • However the boxing day sale price is limited to one HN store as far as we know.

      • Yes limited to HN Highpoint VIC

        I grabbed one

Obviously the difference between HTR-3066B and HTR-375B is HTR-2691B :-)

  • 10% THD !? 0.9% even?
My old Yamaha quotes 70W at 0.04% distortion. What is the equivalent here?

not sure where OP got the specs from… from Yamaha USA they are

      5-channel powerful surround sound
      100 W per channel (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9% THD, 1-ch driven)
      70 W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.09% THD, 2-ch driven)
      Discrete amp configuration
HD Audio format decoding: Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™
Dolby® Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio™
      192 kHz/24-bit Burr-Brown DACs for all channels
High dynamic power, low-impedance drive capability
Low jitter PLL circuitry helps optimize sound imaging

EDIT: google says the deal description contains RX-V375 specs….. they are two different models (as if believe a HN sales person )

    • yeah these power figures are complete bullshit

would anyone be happy with 10% of their music being distorted? I grant you that doesnt matter if its skrillex or miley cyrus…

      Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 70 W (8 ohms, 0.09% THD)

so look to 50w for 5 channels drive

also have a look at the total power consumption

      • 50W RMS per channel is plenty. I just wish they'd cut the bullshit.

  • Whats the equivalent or near equivalent RX-V model to this? RX-V375?

    • yup

  • Boom! Been waiting for this price drop. Figure I'll upgrade the speakers as bargain appear :-)

  • The HTR prefix is the model name given to the packaged speaker kit version on the amp.
    HTR-3065 = RX-V373
    HTR-3066 = RX-V375
    etc
