I guess nexus 10 new model must be due out soon… Google seem to be taking their time releasing an updated model.

There's a pretty big gap in Android 10" tablets at the moment IMHO. I've been eye'ing the Nexus 10, as I know it will keep getting the latest android updates being a Nexus device, and this is a very good price OP (Google Play price $469 https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_10_16…). And the performance is reasonable. However it looks like there may be some pretty awesome 10" tablets coming up this year (eg. Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet) with pretty phenomenal performance and storage benchmarks, so I'm going to wait to see how they go before upgrading from my Asus TF700T. Word for unwary: keep an eye on NAND Flash storage benchmarks - a lot of android tablets have poor flash storage controllers and can turn your device into a dog if it starts doing 2 things at once. While the Nexus 10 was released in 2012 by all reports it has no major bottlenecks, and decent all-round performance.

Cheers but this one is too old now, I'll wait for the announcement.

  • I bought one 5 months ago fearing an announcement any day. Wouldn't be so concerned anymore.

    • I would. Google will stop giving your device software updates within 2 years of release which means the Nexus 10 will receive its last update in 8 months or less.

      • Actually google only guarantee updates for first 18 months. So in the next 3 months it could stop receiving future updates.

        • I have a mod to get rid of those dumbly positioned soft keys so updates aren't a concern. I was only concerned about a better 10" Nexus model coming out the next week as seemed to be the consensus, I don't think that's going to eventuate judging by recent news.

    Nexus 10 (2014) where…

I will never buy anything from Kogan. Samsung Australia will not cover warranty for any devices purchased from overseas. I would rather paying a little bit more from local store. If you ever claim your device from Samsung Experience Store, you will get a new replacement straightaway. But they will never do this if the device is from somewhere else.

Yes you claim through Kogan. I had a warranty claim through Kogan for a Samsung Note no issues. Worth it in my opinion if your saving a couple hundred vs buying local stock.

you wont get a replacement 'straightaway' - at least this wasnt the case with my girlfriends s3.

+1 for paying a little extra (depending how much) for the warranty however… but this is ozbargain!

      • It's worth noting if you know you'll be issued a brand new or refurbished replacement, it makes for a good time to upgrade. But yes, no doubt, instant replacement is better.

Thing is, especially for Android phones, and less for tablets, the local price diff can be pretty outrageous. Particularly when the phone is a bit older. The actual price drops, but the plan/retail price remain unchanged.

  • Oldie but goodie.

If only this was the price at Dicksmith or JB (local stock) then I would get one straight away.

Official support will probably end soon but there will be plenty of custom rom support.
