Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm F1.8 Silver $299 @ DWI ($289 with BAE2013 coupon code, without surcharge)

90

Hi Guys

Was just looking around for a prime and came across this.

I think this is a fantastic price! Free shipping to metropolitan areas.

I do not know how long this will last.

Cheers

Just put an order in, if you use BAE2013 coupon code, this will take a further $10 off. Helps with the surcharge.

Hope this helps.

Great price but just be cautious with DWI, some people have had good experiences with them but others have had terrible service.

  • Have this lens for my OMD EM5. Arguably the sharpest lens I have owned. Very good price at $299.

Also be weary of the bs 2-3% surcharge they put on credit card and even paypal transactions.

Only thing they don't have it on is direct bank transfer.

If you're going to risk dealing with DWI, I wouldn't ever touch direct bank transfer. Yes pay the 2-3% premium on CC, so when they start dicking around, just ignore their emails and chargeback, done.

  • Great price even with the surcharge… But yes caution is needed with this dealer. I would probably for the PayPal charges. Very tempted by this deal

  • BTW its only for the silver. the black colour is $353.

  • Great lens! No hestitation in recommendating this lens.

  • That code is a nice sweetener….. Why so tempting

  • Having the hardest time deciding between the 12-40mm f2.8 and 45mm f1.8… already have 17mm f1.8 for low light street shooting when travelling. It's just the 12-40 costs so much!

    • get both….

    • BuY the 45mm f1.8 for $294.xx now from DWI after surcharge, when you decided to upgrade, I am pretty sure you can offload it for a little to no loss at all. I have been looking around, you still have to spend about $350 for a new one.

  • Maybe.. if someone buys my 12-50mm (used like once lol), 20mm f1.7, and 30mm Sigma f2.8

    • An impressive collection! What body do you use?

      • That's my non wanted lenses :P

I am on an OMD EM5, if I knew how great EM1 was… would have just got it with the 12-40mm.

People say optically, the 17mm f1.8 is not good.. but I love it for the focus, focal length, and f1.8. It's the one that is on my camera most of the time.

I think I want to end up with something like this:

17mm f1.8, 12-40mm f2.8 Pro, 40-150mm Zoom (just in case I need that longer zoom), only missing is 12-40mm.

        Either that or:

17mm f1.8, 45mm f1.8, 12-50mm, 40-150mm, only missing the 45mm f1.8 here, may even add 25mm f1.4 but not sure if I am getting Focal Lengths too close to each other/doubling up.

Won't need more than that, but I find the latter too cluttered, too many lens changes.

        • With the first set up, you will end up not using your 17mm most of the times.

So arguably you need 12-35mm pany or 12-40mm oly, with 40-150mm, if you want telephoto pany 100-300mm.

        • Even in the night time?

When travelling I like to be discrete the size helps, the 17mm f1.8 is small and focuses fast at night.

I did not like the 20mm for this reason.

        • You won't really be shooting in the dark dark dark will you? If you do, perhaps the 17mm is a good option, but if you are just shooting normal night time, i.e. the park at night, festival at night, or nightlife, they normally are pretty well lighted.

For the price, I think 20 mm is miles ahead of the 17mm. I got my MK2 20mm for $300, whilst cheapest 17mm was $480-$500 local stock brand new just 2 months ago, it shoots brilliantly.

        • I already have the 20mm, it struggles to find focus in fine dining restaurants etc and that sort of lighting. My 17mm finds it with ease, has manual focus ring as well.

        • Maybe look into the new Olympus 25mm f/1.8 as a cheaper alternative to the Panasonic 25 1.4?

Here's a review by Robin Wong: Part 1 Part 2

        • Yeah but not sure if I need a 25mm or not. IMO too close to 17mm for my needs. As when I had the 20mm I used to always wish it was a tad wider as I needed to fit a few more things in with limited room.

  • Is this grey stock or local? By the looks of it, e-global is cheaper.. unless i'm mistaken (http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/olympus-m.zuiko-digiā€¦).

    Thanks.

    • Shipping is like $55-60 on eGlobal plus might be fees?

Does anyone know who gives better suppport? eGlobal vs DWI?

      • Right. Forgot to factor that in. Thanks!

  • Thanks OP , just got one. Also not a too bad price on the Panasonic 25/1.4 for $519 delivered

    • That vs 17mm….. hmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhm damn…..

      • really hard to say, the 25mm is optically better. But 17mm is no slouch either.

Depends on your focal length preference. I bought the 17mm as I like that view better.
