Gelato Messina is very popular at the moment. The new Fitzroy store often has lines out the door. I didn't think it would live up to the hype however I was wrong. I had a coconut, cream cheese, and peanut butter flavoured ice cream which was amazing. I'm a bit surprised this is being advertised on Groupon as they are packed all day long.
A bit of trivia. The Fitzroy location used to be a bakery where at the end of the day they would sell bagfuls of random rolls for $1.

Messina definitely lives up to the hype.
Comparing it to store bought is like comparing a good restaurant burger to a frozen supermarket one.

Great deal. Anyone who's actually had their gelato knows that it is amazing. As others have pointed out, no clue why they are doing this, since they always have big lineups. Either way, bought!

There should be no change to the service or portions you receive. The staff have been advised to treat these vouchers just like cash. We don't want to annoy people, we know better than most how badly these things can go if abused.

For everyone doubting it trust me, Messina is an institution. It's comparable to El-Jannah/Bourke street Bakery etc. Lines are always out the door.

I passed by the Fitzroy location today and they had a sign up on the front window promoting Groupon/how to use voucher.
strange, i wanted to buy one for me and one as a gift for my girlfriend but it doesnt even let you buy gifts? so does she have to create her own account? Usually i can buy another coupon as a gift for her.
If you refer her and she opens up a new account, you'll get $10 sign up credit. Surely that's worth it.

My favorite gelati place ever. Comparable, maybe even better than all the gelati I've had in Italy. Until they opened one up in Fitzroy, I would have been near willing to fly to Sydney for them.

Gelatomassi in newtown is just as good and cheaper.

Pandan and Coconut… The flavour is amazing!
Salted Caramel with white Chocolate Chips, haha it is soooo good! And White Chocolate tastes like the white Chocolate in "Kinder" chocolate / stuff. Amazing.

I've been there twice, the ice cream is nice, but I can't justify the price. It's nicer than most ice creams, but the hype kinda makes me sick. So many ice cream stores, yet only one makes all the mulla, the age of the internet I guess.
how is it not justified when most run of the mills ice cream shops will probably charge you 5 dollars for 2 scoops anyway ?
