I was just alerted to this by 3 x Camel (I have one already but it's a decent price drop for this vacuum).

I confirmed it could be delivered to AUS, and the price came out to USD $466 Delivered (AUD515 from xe.com).
Add ~$30 if you don't have a step down transformer to use (see below)

Important: This is the US model, which is basically the same, however the power pack will be for 110v.

There are a few options to get it working here:

  • OPTION 1: 240 to 110v transformer (~$30 on ebay). This is what I initially used with mine.
  • OPTION 2: alternate power pack - Amazon Unfortunately, they don't ship this to AUS, but you can get one through a forwarder. This is what I use now.
  • OPTION 3 (thanks aoc2012): alternate power pack - local $39.95 delivered.
  • OPTION 4: (possibly dangerous) DIY - see freddyc's post further down.

So you need a transformer and forwarder? so no where near $515

    • transformer OR forwarder.
I don't know about everyone else, but I already had a transformer due to taking advantage of other cheap US electronics.

or you can buy the au power supply to replace the origin one from www.robotkingdom.com.au, $39.95 delivered.

Amazon.de is 240v and does not require the transformer.

You've simply got to buy it now

    Hmm.. ordered the Neato XV21 ($340USD) and Braava 380t ($300USD) a few days ago…

Is the Roomba 770 better than Neato XV21 for laminated flooring (small apartment)?

    • +1

Awesome… no more house work… Look forward to your reviews… :)

This is my 2nd Neato for my parents.

Got the Neato Nov last year, its great!
Does a really good clean (except around the edge of walls), no complaints.
I have it scheduled to run 4 times a week.

With the Neato, I didn't need a transformer.

Saves me a lot of time.

  • Not sure which Roomba Costco has, but i know they have one which is around $500 mark too.

They all look the same from the pictures…. sadly.

    • its Roomba630 for $500 at Costco
      Roomba630 for AUD387.36 at Amazon

  • plus for kirby tag :)

  • MOD: As some have commented, modding a transformer is dangerous and deadly. Do not try it if you are not a qualified technician.

For those Ozbargainers who have access to a soldering iron(from DSE deals possibly) and willing to save some money by doing some DIY, there is a guide for converting the 110VAC to 230VAC. http://goo.gl/344mZ2

All the parts can be purchased from electrical component sellers like Jaycar. I believe it costs around $10-15 for parts without converting to an AUS plug.

I can verify that this works, as I have done this for 5 units in the past.

One thing to note, apparently the batteries in the older models (600 series) do die after around a year to 2 years. It costs around $40 for a generic replacement battery.

      4) If you are not an experienced electronics technician, don’t even try to open the charger case

      YOLO right??

Sorry for the neg and report, but NEVER OPEN A POWER SUPPLY UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

You are telling novice’s to change a POWER CAPACITOR in a PLASTIC and UNEARTHED case. Your guide doesn't even tell the modder to make sure the unit is disconnected from power.

Freddy, I wish you the best of luck with your modified power supply’s but this mod is deadly and shouldn't be advertised to barginers to save a few bucks.

      • Sorry, potentially deadly.

      • Of course you need the power supply plugged up to the wall while you are doing the mod… while doing so, make sure you have your roomba/scooba plugged up also.

Allows you to easily test if you soldered correctly or not, since if you soldered correctly, the lights on the robot will come on, if you done it incorrectly it will not come on.

        Cheap/dead man version of a multimeter….

P.S: this is the internet, I will not be taking any responsibility for anything you do from this point onwards or from the advice given above.

  • Not quite familiar with this kind of vacuum, is this a good price to buy ?

We've loved our 780 that we squeezed HN from $1200 to $750 with 5year warranty. This was in 2012 Dec.

We've got cats and little hair, but this les well through their junk over carpet, rugs, tiles, and wood floor.

Heck I've not needed to vac for over a year now!

You 'do' have to maintain it by cleaning the rollers regularly though!

  • My Neatos already landed in Aus.

    • Mine is in Hong Kong.

Having done a bit of research on comparisons, I am glad I got the Neato, not a Roomba. It appears the Roomba's mostly bounce around the house. People criticise the Neato for the shorter battery life, but there is no point having a longer battery live if it is inefficient, and unable to resume when it has not finished cleaning.

      • Wait until you have problem with it. My Neato plays up once in a wait… stops for no reasons and say blocked path.
My Roomba is more reliable and randomly buzz around…lasted quite awhile.

        • It's the random that bugs me. I prefer systematic.
If I have a problem I'll get Amazon to sort it out. Apparently they deal with it well. If it wasn't for that I might have thought twice, because I'm aware of the occasional issue.

        • Why does it have 4/5 stars with over 1000 reviews on Amazon?

  • I DIY'ed my power adapter a few years ago.
Was very easy and I only have very basic soldering skills and a bit of common sense.

  • Trying to decide between this and the newer roomba 880

  • i let loose a 650 in my open concept home and it works wonders. i've yet to manually vacuum the porcelain tiles in my living area in 2 months and it's speck free. Doesn't work so well if you have too many carpeted areas and obstacles in the form of table legs, low height clearance on sofas and wiring.

  • FYI my Roomba 560 ordered from Amazon was advertised with a 110v supply but actually shipped with an 110-240v supply. YMMV

p.s. roomba rules, well worth the money

  • Anyone who can give comparison of this with say the LG Roboking/Hom Bot Square ?
