  • Yum! - more Cookies & Cream
Thanks OP, its still a very good deal.

P.S. any comments on Maggie Beer branded icecreams? They are damn expensive, so better taste good.

    • +3

maggie beer burnt fig something is the best.

      • Yeah, IMHO the Maggie Beer flavours are in a class of their own. You only really need half the amount of Connoisseur, as the flavours are so rich.

        Horses for courses though…

        ;)

    • +1

They Bears little relation to value you'll find…

Consumer watchdog Choice asked 60 people to rate each ice cream on flavour, texture and taste, and whether they would buy it. Coles Classic Creamy Vanilla topped the list at a fifth of the price of the most expensive brand, Homer Hudson Vanilla Nirvana.

A GENERIC brand of ice cream has come up trumps in a blind taste test of 32 vanilla ice creams. LAW of 'diminishing returns';-)

      So I've now to decide b/w Op's selection, quite good; & this25₡/100mL, & this25₡100mL, & this40₡100mL, & this30₡100mL& this11₡100mL ….yum-yum.

      • +2

What about other than vanilla? I never buy vanilla anyway; it's so boring.

        • Goes nicely with Nutella, crushed strawberries.
          besides which, there's cookies+cream.

        • Defeats the purpose if you have to mix it with something; too much effort :)

    • Oh man, I love the orange rind ice cream of hers but haven't been able to find it for a while now. Hope they didn't discontinue it.

      Edit: Answered my own question:
      http://www.maggiebeer.com.au/products/category/icebox
      Sad face :(

  • I still have 2 tubs left from the last sale. what the hell i'll get some more, Thanks OP

    • +2

Better eat them first before they start tasting like the freezer itself.

  • +1

I find that I consume a tub in under 3 days… is it just me or am I crazy?

    • +40

      No, you're just slow.

      • :L

  • +4

    I still have rainchecks @ $4.49

  • +3

Like last time, Woolies will probably have it for $4.49 next week ….. just saying …

    • But then I have to go to Woolworths. :P

    • And then you will just have to buy some more… or stuff your face with as much as you can this week and do it again next week with woolies.

    • +1

Buy and eat 10 from coles this week… buy and eat 10 from wow next week!

  • God damn it, I'm trying to be good here with my eating then you post this deal up!!

  • Thanks ta. Great ice cream at a perfect price.

  • +7

Getting seriously fed up easternculture! Why do you feel a need to continually update my posts? Do you friggen get paid by the number of edits?

Everyone is aware it starts on Wednesday, as I made quite in my comments. Also, Scotty went to a lot of trouble to include Start & Expiry boxes for each post, which I use all the time. Do you even know they exist?

So once again, stop screwing with my deals. Your revision has been un-revised!

    • +4

i like it when you're able to see the start date in the title, maximising use of the space allocated

    • Eat a tub of ice cream, it will make you feel better.
I know I feel better when I do.
      But then I cry later.

    • I gotta say - it was only after reading this post that I realised there is a start and stop time on ozbargain. In the years that I've been coming here - I never noticed that. Thanks. But at the same time, perhaps that field could be more prominent.

      I think it's justified.
Have you seen the amount of stupid people on the internet? If it's not there, I'm sure there will be angry people who turn up to coles.. only to be disappointed (they deserve it though)
I've never seen Start boxes for each post, I've only seen Expiry (where it automatically slaps an EXPIRED tag on the post).

      • +2

        I think it's justified.

Most posts have it. It's there for all to see

I suppose I'm just angrier at the fact EC keeps deliberately doing one thing or another just to annoy the crap out of me. But thanks for the constructive feedback cwongtech.

        • Most posts have it. It's there for all to see

Ah okay, just that, if this was a newspaper, I bet there would be angry bogans yelling "small print", "misleading","AYYY TRIPLE SEE" left and right.

I suppose I'm just angrier at the fact EC keeps deliberately doing one thing or another just to annoy the crap out of me. But thanks for the constructive feedback cwongtech.

Fair enough, I haven't found any outstanding deals recently so I haven't had the pleasure of being edited by a power user :)

        • +2

I agree with you tightarse, your initial post needed no revisions it said it all. I find cwongtech to a bit of a stirrer at times but not enough to be called a troll.

        • I find cwongtech to a bit of a stirrer

Got a scanpan pot on sale! Putting it to good use!

        • :)

  • time to stock up… 2 days to clear the freezer..

  • +4

Down down… unfortunately that doesn't apply to my weight :(

  • So like, since Valentine's is coming up soon and i'm single. I think it's time to start eating desserts. FUARK, THAT $5 PRICE THOUGH!

    • Don't swear biatch

  • excellent. another 2 days to empty the freezer :)

  • There goes my diet

  • I bought a couple of Sara Lee when it was half price recently. Is Connoiseur better?

    • +3

      Much better

    • Not much in it IMO. I think they're both excellent. Probably depends on what flavours you like.

      • The ones I bought are Chocolate which is quite good and Rum&Raisin which I have yet to try. I do like Connoisseur Maccadamia so I'll definitely get one.

        • +2

The Sara Lee Ultra Chocolate is my favourite. Not a big fan of Rum & Raisin, but it's nice for a change.

        • I am sad to say I will have to finish off a tub of Ultra Chocolate to make way for some Connoisseur caramel honey macadamia.
I will really hate having to eat that.

          Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Ultra Chocolate.

        • strawberry's pretty good too

        • +1 Best chocolate ever

  • +2

Thankfully no chest freezers on sale on ozb at the moe :)

  • Thanks TA. I'm glad I didn't buy them from Woolies yesterday with their 20% off sale.

  • Awww, is it Wednesday yet?!

Ah well, just in time for the cricket. A tub a night should do it…

  • indeed, not 'worth' than $5. That's my pricepoint. Thanks.

  • yum!
    Best flavour?

I've tried Cookies and Cream, which was freaking awesome… any takers for Belgian Chocolate?

    • +2

      CAFE GRANDE FTW!!

      • I can't make up my mind between Belgian Chocolate and Cafe Grande :)

      • There's too many almonds in the Cafe Grande :(

        • I'll be happy to take yours. I usually target the almonds first and my family gets grumpy about it LOL

    • Cookies and Cream + Belgian Chocolate + Cafe Grande…get all three and take a scoop of each

      • +1

how about Caramel Honey Macadamia and Chocolate Honey Nougat?

is there any that isn't good? :)

  • +1

Please buy more, then I can get my raincheck…

    • That's great to know….. I live in SA, NT, ACT, WA…. any idea on shipping, cos we don't have an Aldi

    • We don't have Aldi in SA yet. Are you saying that Aldi sells Connoisseur for less than $5 normally (or when they have it on special)?

      • We had the aldi cookies and cream here the other night and the connoisseur one right next to it and there was no difference. It looks to me like the same product with different writing on the tub

    • +4

Don't you dare mock Connoisseur like that >:P

    • define "exact same product"

      • -1

See my post above, I had the 2 side by side and couldn't tell the difference. Look was the same, taste was the same, even the tub was the same although branded differently. Aldi don't sell rubbish like the old bi-lo and cheapo places like that.

        • +1

Aldi don't sell rubbish like the old bi-lo and cheapo places like that.

          LIKE HELL they don't
I've had to return several Aldi products because they're crap.

        • +2

I am a HUGE fan of Aldi, but payton's comment is correct. They on occasion do sell some crap products. Personally, since I save so much money across the board from them, and their excellent return policy, it doesn't worry me that much. Most of their products are good, and many I find preferable to the name brands eg the Pringles equivalent ~$1.50 vs $4 and tastes better imho. Their hand tools are very good too.

    • I agree, the Aldi icecream is damn nice. It might not taste the same (I haven't tried Connoisseur) but since Aldi's tastes so good, and is cheap all the time, why wait for a Coles deal?*. At the very least try it once to compare, rather than blindly march the streets shouting 'Connoisseur is the best!' ;)

*excludes locations that do not have access to Aldi**

**For people who don't have access to Aldi, have you thought about moving to a better state :P

  • Didn't see it starts Wednesday. Went in tonight, still paid full price - worth it!!! Thanks TA, an excuse to buy more later this week!

  • Why the heck all the down votes? Coles are expensive and their specials are generally not cheap. I think its reasonable to discuss that.

    • Why pick on Coles? Their prices are pretty much the same as Woolies.

      • +1

Woolies are expensive too. They are both highly unethical companies.

        • +2

Depends on what you call expensive. Here in SA (where we don't have Aldi), Coles and Woolies generally have cheaper specials than our main alternatives, Foodland and IGA.

        • +1

Yes and no. Coles and Woolies have much better deals and discounts on junk food, lollies, chips and garbage of that nature. Foodland/IGA have much better discounts and sales of fruit, veg, meat and toiletries/cleaning products.

        • Yes, you're probably right now that I think of it. It's just that I tend to buy more from the former categories on special :)

    • You are the new jv

    • +1

Coles probably pays $1 for each tub.

  • Rum and raisin ftw

  • Here goes my Triglyceride again

    • +1

Is that some kind of dinosaur?

  • +1

I still have 8L left from the last sale with Woolies :) Cookies and Cream is way too sweet, I think the best flavour is Classic Vanilla and Caramel Honey Macadamia

  • For those who would like to fit more in their freezer, it is suggested you let each tub Connoisseur melt a little and pour it in ;)

    • -3

      [Narky Parent]

Melting and refreezing icecream actually causes food poisoning :)

(Never eat ice cream in countries where the power is unstable!)

      [/Narky Parent]

      • I've recently eaten some where the freezer temperature rose to just under zero (during a 14-hour power outage). I didn't suffer any significant effects, but it causes the texture to change, making it rather icy. It doesn't taste so good.

        • +1

Never argue with a Doctor, they know everything, although I think DrStinge might be an evil doctor 'cos he smiles after food poisoning.

  • Coles Epping (NSW) let me down tonight, dropped by specifically to pick up some Cookies and Cream and no stock! Of any flavour! Seemed to have had some problem with their freezers as one side of the aisle was completely empty, so they didn't have the usual end freezer full of sale stock.

    • +3

thats a good thing if they run out of stock. Get rainchecks!!

    • -1

Bingo. I now have this for Caramel Macadamia, Cafe Grande & whichever other - for x4 drums, to fill in b/w Aldi($4.69) visits, "Valid for 12 months from date of issue statement" *C.G was OOS atm (there often generally one Out Of Stock ain't there).

Afforded access{✓in.NSW} plus being not a daft punk{interpretsEnglish✓}, I'd be among those enlightened to rec•og•nise I may collect "e.g.Cookies&Cream" wondrously duplicated +other viz monarcfor=null.experiential difference 'than marketing,' similar to Vanilla-replaced via (25₡/100mL)Coles'bucket> return.Choice_survey sampling above.

  • +2

You can get an additional 15% this if you combine it with the Coles Express ATM Voucher for 15% off frozen foods at Coles. See this deal I posted earlier: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/132684

It says that you can't combine it with any additional offers, but it worked today when I scanned it at the register. Score!

    • nice :)

  • Plenty of stock of all flavours EXCEPT vanilla at Leichhardt, NSW today.

  • mm still might get 102.56mL 213.21mL-for my $, next weekly cycle, 'opulence. : )
