High end Windows 8 Tablet with dock?

Can anyone help. I need a full size Windows 8 tablet with an Intel I5, pref 8gb, 256gb ssd and an optional dock so I can connect it to run like a desktop. I ordered a Dell Venue 11 and they couldn't deliver within 2 months so I cancelled. The Windows Surface 2 Pro does not have a dock yet, and the indicated price for their future release dock is a ripoff. Looking to spend up to $2,000 including all the extras. Any suggestions ?

  • Check out the XPS12. We use it at work and everyone loves it. You can get it with the USB 3.0 dock and it allows you to connect up to 2 monitors.

  • ThinkPad Yoga? i7-4500U, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Full HD 12.5" with optional WACOM digitiser — probably under your budget with current CNY promo. It can use Lenovo OneLink dock.

    • I wouldnt buy a Yoga given the Yoga 2 is just around the corner with UHD display

      • +1

You are talking about 13.3" IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro, which is not available in Australia yet. I'm talking about the ThinkPad Yoga which was released at around the same time as IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro. Slightly smaller (12.5") more geared towards business users.

        • Thinkpad Yoga also has wacom and 360 degree monitor rotation

  • Have you used a Yoga ? Is it much heavier and thicker than a normal tablet ?

    • well by weight, an iPad air is 469g whereas the Thinkpad Yoga is 1.6kg. so obviously slightly different markets

Thinkpad Yoga fits more in the 'convertible' or 2in1 category. Same with XPS 12, you probably won't be able to use these as conventional tablets the same as an Android device or iPad (like one handed, or just quickly check stuff). But you'll be able to use their touchscreen in a similar fashion as they fold over the keyboard to give you a tablet like form factor.
