  • good find dude.

  • THanks also for including the fine print. Hopefully we will see some offers at the Myer & DJs clearance sales (unlikely as it sounds) and it would be good if there is another 10% off deal at the usual suspects.

It's a good time to have a look.

Is this a run-out offer due to the release of one (or many) new Eee PC 100xx models? There seems to be a few (like the 1004HE 'shell' and others in the pipeline already.

  • I noticed that officeworks is on the list and MSY also sells this laptop for $749. So as long as MSY has the stock: 749-37(5% office works price match)-89=$623. Not bad for a good quality netbook.

    • Do Officeworks give a further 5% discount on the competitors price, or do they give the competitors price less 5% of the difference between the two prices?

    I think there's 3X USB ports not 2

  • How does this compare to the MSI Wind U100+, this is available from Umart (http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=5) for $615, which is pretty close to the price for this.
Wondering why the RRP for this netbook is $135 more and if I should go for this instead, specs look pretty much the same?

  • Alot of IT retailer selling for $749 which is cheaper price after the cashback anyway. Only specific 1000HE modal has cashback. MSY and CPL selling for $749 which is cheaper price after the cashback price anyway.

ONLY EPC1000HE-BLK002X or EPC1000HE-WHI002X eligible for cashback

$545 (but remember you cant get the cashback off them)

    • that 1000HA not 1000HE, they two different modal.

      • ohh my mistake.

  • Hmmm think I'll hold out to last minute this month… see if the price drops any further

  • Expect lower prices on 10" netbooks, as Acer have a HD 11.6" on the market:

    11.6" $699 (after $79 cashback) Acer Aspire One A0751H atom Z520-1.33 1GB 160GB XP <b>1366x768 LCD</b> www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2331

This is a great travel companion without a dedicated carrying sack. I like not having to be burdened with the larger laptop computers. If I need a larger screen it's because I'm at home doing word processing or spreadsheet work requiring more text visibility. I have a larger electro-optics screen to use for that. So, all-in-all, this is a good buy.
The only question remaining is at what price can I get it? Can I get it a cheaply as possible? There is a software tool described at my blog on this computer that permits you to locate the lowest price available among many online stores!
Visit: http://laptopbargainbasement.blogspot.com/ The software is free!

    • Comment neg'd for self-promotion (with referral/distributor link) of US-centric software (eg searches Amazon, Target US, Wal-Mart, Buy.com etc) which is not particularly useful in Australia.

Personally, I'll stick to StaticIce (www.staticice.com.au) which is IMO a tried and true Australian-based price aggregator.

  • If you want the cashback do not purchase from PC Market as they have a non participating model (despite them advertising the cashback). If you're unsure ask for the model code. It must be either EPC1000HE-BLK002X or EPC1000HE-WHI002X

    • Hmm, that's misleading that they (PC Market) are advertising the cashback given that they aren't recognised as a 'participating retailer' as per the Asus Eee PC 1000HE cashback T&Cs

To be eligible to claim the Cashback, individuals must, during the Promotional Period, purchase a participating ASUS EPC being either a EPC1000HE-BLK002X or EPC1000HE-WHI002X model from any of the following participating retailers: Myer, Officeworks, JB Hi Fi, Clive Peeters, Clive Anthonys, Radio Rentals, Teds Camera Stores, The Good Guys, Leading Edge Computers, Dick Smith, Bing Lee, David Jones, Nuance, Leading Edge Electronics, Pinpoint, Wireless1, Retravision, WOW, BSR, Harvey Norman, Joyce Mayne or Domayne.

      • They have taken it off their website now…

  • note it only applies to purchases of the ASUS EPC1000HE-BLK002X or EPC1000HE-WHI002X which contains the n270 processor, not the newer and faster n280 which would have the code word BLKO12X
