      How did it work? Were you sent an upgrade code when you bought the digital download from Amazon?

        It shouldn't need the upgrade code - it should recognise that you own the PS3 version on your account, and then allow you to buy the PS4 version for the discounted price.

        Create an US psn account.
        Purchase this.
        You get a ps3 game code for AC4.
        Put that code in your ps3 or ps app US PSN account to initiate the download for PS3. —> Important step
        Once the PS3 initiates the download, go to PS4's US PSN store
        You will see the AC4 Upgrade option available
        Pay the $10 and Upgrade

        Yes this is correct. It recognises you have bought the digital version so you just pay the $9.95US to upgrade it
