Uniden Portable Phone Help

Hey Guys
I purchased this Uniden Portable phone when posted on this great site -

They work good but every now and then when I am talking on them I get this sound that takes over the phone and you need to hang up for it to go away. It beeps at first and then it sounds like a Fax.

Anyone have any idea?

    Odd?? Can you try it elsewhere to see if the problem is unique to your handset? Might be a warranty job?

    After having no end of problems with cordless phones of the popular brands I solve it well and truly… I bought Siemens cordless phones.

    I'll have to see if I can take it somewhere but it only happens now and then
