Hi
Does anyone here own the new nexus 5? If so what are your thoughts I'm thinking of buying one when available.
LG Nexus 5 - what are your thoughts?

Only 32GB black is out of stock at the moment.
Overall it's an awesome phone for the price. Camera and battery are quite decent, though performance wise it's smoother than any other android phone.(Android 4.4.2 seems to help it a bit)
Anything in particular you were wondering about?
It's a really good phone, and I don't regret buying it at all. The size takes a little getting used to (especially with a case), but that's virtually the only negative I can think of for me. The camera is said to be average (not great, but not terrible), but I find it to be fine for my uses. The display is nice, the build quality is generally nice, the software is clean, and the performance is great. Not much more to say, really.
Can't think of a better phone for the money. Hell, can't think of a better phone for twice the money. Battery and Camera are both fine - don't listen the naysayers.
About the only time I wouldn't get one is if I lived in Canberra and was Optus (no 4Gplus) but otherwise its something of a no brainer.
I'm going from a note 2 that I broke not worth fixing as repair cost are high.
Biggest down side no microSD, battery life and camera ability.I guess it's worth a switch just need to wait till it 32gb black is in stock.
I read on the reliable internet that it's rumored to come out in red!
if you can live with those 'down sides', then go for it but yeah I'd honestly consider the 32gb over the smaller version and if you like red… even better for you, haha.
I personally put storage and battery higher up the order. most camera phones these days are decent enough but not good enough to replace my compact or dslr just yet :)
I have an LG phone… i'm really really pleased with it. Will never buy Samsung again!
For price its good but not a fan of 'vanilla' android nor do I find the device all that appealing.
Depending on what you want, I think other phones do things better but ultimately the nexus 5 is generally going to win on price unless you go for an older generation phone or a generic android device. For build quality, I'd rather go with an xperia z1, I absolutely love the dust and water resistance (and probably the only android phone I'd consider right now due to that).
For a removable battery, I'd get a samsung galaxy S4.
For a bigger screen, maybe the LG G2. I've heard LG has awesome battery life and that's a big plus I think. Also the buttons on the back look interesting.
For price, I'd rather get an older S3 or Z with expandable space - the lack of space on the nexus 5 is a huge negative for me. Nothing wrong with the Samsung S3 or sony Z to get the job done unless having the latest android OS is a must. There's no way I'd get the 16gb Nexus 5 when there's no expandable storage - I don't have enough data to use cloud storage effectively.
I can live without a decent camera on the nexus 5 but the camera software is average. Not sure on battery life but I've seen enough reviews on it to say that its average at best.
People may not agree with me but BlackBerry 10 OS runs rings around the android OS - I find it better integrated and I don't rely heavily on apps like others may do. Having said that, Blackberry's 10.2.1 update was released today where you can download APK's directly from google play using SNAP or the amazon app store - unfortunately not all apps work so you take a risk on paid apps.
The nexus 5 will be good if you rely heavily on google services as that's a sticking point to any other platform like Jolla that tries to hitch a ride on android's ecosystem. Google have pushed more of their services and code behind 'closed walls' so its not easily available for developers.
There's a lot to like about BlackBerry 10 but I'm not going to bore you since your original question is about the nexus 5.
Good luck with your choice.
LG G2 is around $500 from Kogan(grey import) which you should consider.
Well at the moment the nexus 5 32 gb is out of the question due to no stock.
Very good alternatives to consider p.
I've gone from an iPhone 5 to a HTC one to a note two. (Little odd I know)Waterproof phone is tempting the S4 comes in an active edition water and dust proof but not budget proof
I have had no probs with the 2 usual Nexus 5 cons with my own N5, the battery life and the storage. I have a 32gb version with Battery Guru, and the brightness turned down to 60%. Lasts all day and then some, and I charge it each night on a Qi charger.
Quality hardware, and I really like the no-frills KitKat OS. Blazing fast, great screen and it's just the right size for my large, prehistoric hands. I would recommend the Nexus to anyone.Alright I'm convinced on the nexus now need to wait for stock! Not a big fan of the white not sure who would be ?
I have the Nexus 5 and it works great for me :)
I moved to a Nexus 5 from an iPhone.
It's awesome :)I think the nexus 5 might have terrible battery life, according to the GSMArena test.
Nexus5 owners, what do you think about the battery life? I'm looking to buy a new phone as well, don't know if I should buy the nexus 5 or the new padfone infinity.you get about 4 hours of screen time per charge.
After breaking my iPhone 5 I reluctantly bought a nexus 5 as I couldn't afford the cost of a new iPhone. I was expecting an inferior OS and phone. I love it. Apart from a poorer battery life (which I suppose is a problem with phones with bigger screens in general) I'm very happy with the Nexus 5 and the android OS. Won't be going back to an iPhone in a hurry…
my only concern about this phone is the inbuilt battery. Recently I bought a new battery for my galaxy note N7000… after 18 months of usage, the battery life had degraded by maybe 20 or 25%.
Replacing the battery on this device is not possible. So if you plan to keep using it for 2yrs+, then you will suffer a bit.
Not true. Replacing the Nexus 5's battery is actually quite easy compared to other phones. If you read the iFixit guide, it commends it for making the battery so easy to take out and replace in step 5. Of course it can't be compared to the ease of a removable battery but swapping the in-built battery of the Nexus 5 is quick simple and far from impossible.

The S4 Active is $429 + 29 shipping from Kogan, and I think Camera Paradise had it for $419 + $29 shipping, that's only roughly $30 more than the Nexus 5 if you were still looking for that.
its great phone if you like android the only disappointment side fore me that you cant put microsd card otherwise everything good
