McDonald's McFlurry for $1.40

17380

So, being inquisitive and bored, a friend and I decided to see if we can get past the absolutely outrageous price that a McFlurry costs at micca dee's. So, by doing the following, you will get a VERY cheap McFlurry.

Process:
1) Ask for 3x30 cent cones to be put into a McFlurry cup
2) Ask for the topping (e.g. m&ms, oreo etc) of your choice
3) Eat your three thirty cent cones with whatever topping in a mcflurry cup :)

Enjoy, this will save you hundreds of percent of the total cost :)

Quick edit - yes topping (e.g. chocolate sauce or fudge) incurred an extra 50 cents.

lol $1. watch them lose all the ice cream sales

    • +1

Maybe when that happens your neg will be valid. Until then… your username may appear unusually apt to the outside observer.

      • +2

No Idea what happened there, didn't intend to neg the deal, just to post the comment.

$0.30 super bargain soft serves is what makes the "deal".

$0.50 for the toppings doesn't really seem very cheap to me though.

    will need to try it…..yummy

I'll pass on this one. Gave up eating ice cream after finding out it more than likely contains Beaver Butt !! Eeewww http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/10/03/your-vanilla-ice-cream-m…

    • More for me!

Did you even read that article?

"…castoreum is not an especially common source of vanilla flavoring… total annual consumption of both castoreum extract and castoreum liquid was around 250 pounds, undoubtedly because the milking process is unpleasant for all parties involved".

I doubt 250lb of "beaver butt" is enough to flavour all the soft serve in Australia.

    • +10

Why "eeewww"? I thought most guys like eating beaver?

  • +6

my local mcdonalds has $2 mcflurry 5-8pm for a while now. (without doing the trouble of all this)

    • That's still $0.60 more expensive, and with a restricted period!

      • +1

Chocolate syrup costs ANOTHER 50c making a Choc fudge mcflurry $1.90. Oreo and m and m mcflurrys probably replaced the EPIC caramel cookie mcflurry because they are cheaper to make i guess.

SO I went and got myself one of these bad boys today. I got it at a kids b'day party and all the adults looked at me as if I was the cheapest and tightest guy on the planet. I was actually called jew. Only kids b'day I've been to that I've enjoyed :P I have to say I was quite proud of myself and even though my wife pretended to share their disgust I know she was proud of me as well :)

    • +9

      Your poor kid

Lets get it to 2000 votes!!

    • Yeah then people can start putting "First post!" on deals. Cheap thrills ;-S

      unethical?

unethical because it's entirely within THEIR rules?
or unethical that we are paying less for vastly overpriced food devoid of nutritional value?
or unethical because mcdonalds is a multinational not-for-profit charitable organisation that has contributed so much to mankind?

here's food for thought (pun intended)
      cost of maccers

      http://www.realfarmacy.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/McDona…
US version, but still good a good read

      • -1

        devoid of nutritional value

Nutrients include carbs, fats and protein (unless you mean 'nutritional' in the d-bag 'activated almonds' sense, as opposed to its correct scientific meaning)… As such, McDs is an extremely rich source of all three nutrients (especially the first two).

        So that should be:

… vastly overpriced food packed full of nutritional value?

        • i said nutritional value, not nutrition. you can getthe daily required calorie drinking a cup of cooking oil and/or can of coke :p

    • +2

      a) This is Maccas, a huge multinational,
      b) the ingredients in a soft serve cost ~10c

      • prolly even less!

      • Most (all) stores are franchises owned by individuals. Just saying.

        • -2

          and? whats your point?

        • -2

What's the point of replying to a comment that is almost a month old?

        • +1

          Just saying.

        • -1

The point is, as much as people would love to feel justified in getting back at a huge, evil mega-corporation, that simply isn't the truth in a lot of cases. Most stores aren't owned by the McDonalds Coporation, hence, 'this is Maccas, a huge multinational' is a mostly irrelevant point.

    • +1

Bahaha you're funny. It's on their menu for this price, therefore it is unethical of them to charge more than double by giving it a different name "mcflurry"

  • -8

So now that we know this was ripped off another website and no credit was given And that this isn't a new bargain anyways let the revoking begin.
Also let the negging of this comment begin

    • +2

I thought the whole idea of Ozbargain was to post deals from other sites then once posted here we plus vote them up or have I been doing this wrong.

Anyways I is ready to light up my torch flog Cheezal! Damn you for getting so many well deserved plus votes.

He posted it here first we all voted (I also think it was his idea but someone else may have thought of it also, so what?) and it was just meant to be a laugh and we all got that so move on:)

Ordered 2 X soft serves. Asked for her to put them in a mc flurry cup - she said no I can't do that for you. So I said fine, I'll just take the two cones and 2 X toppings. After she handed that over, I asked for a cup (meaning at least a small drinking cup) .. Unfortunately she gave me the smallest sundae cup and all the ice cream (after scraping it out of the cone with a spoon) and toppings didn't fit. Lucky I was going home and put it into a big sundae glass straight away. So it required quite a bit of effort cos I was unlucky enough to have the manager serve me. Ah well.. Only $1.60 :-P

    • Take your bowl there

  • +4

And people thought some of the things I suggested in the old "cheapskate thread" were out there. The closest thing to this thread that I've done, is buy a 30c cone and their $1.50 apple pie and mix together.

I'm going to read this in the future, and be like "wow, you were part of OzBargain history!". Hi future me.

that's pretty damn average. pull your socks up.

Makes EC and WNK look like noobs with that average :P

  • Gonna try this tomorrow. (If I don't chicken out…)

  • We've asked for a super sized sundae before, in a large thickshake cup. They charged us an extra 90c (three soft serves). Can't remember final cost but that was a lot of ice cream and topping!

  • 1500!

  • wow this is great thanks guys

  • +2

Make it cheaper… buy your own topping from the store. Take your own cup. Just buy soft serve cones.

Let's face it, 50c per serve of m&m's is a rip.

    • +1

200gram Peanut M&M's are on sale at Coles for $2.50

    • +4

You're missing the point. It's all about convenience. If you're buying topping from the store you might as well buy the ice cream and soft serve while you're there as well.

  • +10

Done it at Marion… Head honcho didn't budge but then when putting m&Ms in she sorta realized I'm a tightarse

    • +12

And here I was thinking she would realise you are really smart and ask you on a date!

  • +5

Just did this using 4x soft serves! They didn't charge me for 2x oreo shots. I asked the 4 cones to be put in a mcflurry cup and the girl that served me was like umm what…. sure.

I asked if I was allowed to do this and the drivethrough order girl/guy serving me said probably not but meh.

  • +2

woohoo voted at number 1600 :)

Had a hard time at THREE McDonalds.

First one said "sorry, we stocktake on mcflurry cups" and some shit excuse for sundae cups.
Second one said they won't allow it, didn't budge after 5 minutes of arguing
Third one said that they won't allow it.. blah blah.. finally accepted after a few minutes.

    • +2

Regarding the cup, you should be able to ask for a free water then scull or get rid of the water and use that instead of a mcflurry cup.

    • +4

Had a hard time at THREE McDonalds.

Damn, the girls working there must be pretty hot :P

    • They're cracking down on us!

Can we BYO cup, then? If it has to be a McDonalds cup, then… time to dig through their rubbish bins, rinse in the toilet basins, and bring back to the register for a "refill"?

  • +1

Wow, I remember voting on this around the 600-700 mark and thinking this is amazing! Now it's 1k over that amount and I'm still amazed!

I haven't tried it, but since the weather is stupid hot at the moment, the Frozen Sprites will get a rest and a mega Mc-UnFlurried McFlurry will be had! I'm sure I can find at least one Maccas willing to give me a spare cup and sell me a few sprinklings of crumbled biscuits or whatever else they sell.

I did make a double Sundae in a large drink cup many MANY years ago as a birthday present to a friend of mine… cost me around $10 but at 9pm on a slow night, the girl behind the counter was more than happy to oblige. One sundae of icecream, topping and flurry bits, repeat again on top… I think they were very sick after consuming…

  • Damn this thread, now I feel like ice cream :(

  • I had successfully done the chicken patty trick a few times but tonight they wanted to charge me for a full burger. Ended up getting it to $2 but when I went to eat it, realised it was from the mini chicken burgers.

    They're onto us :-(

    • +6

Go back and get a refund. They did not give you what you asked for.

    • I haven't heard of the chicken patty trick before. You have me intrigued, care to elaborate?

  • +2

I reckon I got more soft serve than you OP.

    • Ew, is that m & m's?

  • +1

Done this yesterday at McDonalds Bonnyrigg, when I first asked to put the soft serves in a McFlurry cup the person at the checkout said that they only serve soft serves the sundae lids then I repeated what I said to try and clarify that I wanted all three in the McFlurry cup and after they had a quick(very quick) talk with their manager I got it, plus they gave me the topping free of charge :)

    • Manager was is a OzB member?

    • -1

"clarify that I wanted all three in the McFlurry cup" What to they do? Do 3 cones as usual then dump them in a cup scratching their head?

  • +1

Tried last night in Melbourne CBD. They wouldn't put the cones in a mcflurry cup. so i asked for 3x cones + topping anyway. but it was after midnight so the cone price was 50c. so it was gonna be $2 total so i backed out and got nothing

  • +1

    Ive gained 2kg this week

  • +1

I fold my Whoppers in half so I can have a double Whooper Junior.

  • Thanks…I enjoyed it last night!

  • I tried this the other day and she wouldn't let me do it =(

  • Anyway i tried it in a (sundae lid + soft serve (1) + M&M) X 2.. cost err $1.60 for two.

  • +1

They did the sundae lid thing with me too. My sister didn't appreciate having to cradle 3 melting ice creams while I drove home laughing at her, nearly blind with tears.

  • Thanks OP, it's still working.

  • Tried this at Broadway maccas and they told me I couldn't do it and was basically scamming them of a mcflurry. But haymarket staff had no issues doing it about a month ago.

  • -2

Why would any staff refuse this, they should be fired. Just bring your own cup haha

  • I like to ask for 2 soft serves by themselves, and also a Medium Cup. That way I also get the "crunchy cone" as a "topping" :3

  • +1

    Has this deal really expired?

    • It now costs $2.00 to do this.

  • +1

2 years passed, oh how it goes fast

    • Does this still work?

      • +1

It now costs $2.30 not $1.40.

        • Damn McFlurry inflation is a leading indicator for general inflation.
