McDonald's McFlurry for $1.40

17380

So, being inquisitive and bored, a friend and I decided to see if we can get past the absolutely outrageous price that a McFlurry costs at micca dee's. So, by doing the following, you will get a VERY cheap McFlurry.

Process:
1) Ask for 3x30 cent cones to be put into a McFlurry cup
2) Ask for the topping (e.g. m&ms, oreo etc) of your choice
3) Eat your three thirty cent cones with whatever topping in a mcflurry cup :)

Enjoy, this will save you hundreds of percent of the total cost :)

Quick edit - yes topping (e.g. chocolate sauce or fudge) incurred an extra 50 cents.

Can you scan receipt so i can pricematch at officeworks?

      • Sadly, I forgot to take the receipt…

      • oh lol!

  • +6

Why does this have over 1200 +votes?

    • +4

      Makes you wonder

    • +2

I'm surprised too. My sister's been getting 30c cones and the toppings in separate sundae lids for years.

Also the OP only mentioned to get one shot of the topping, which a McFlurry has 2 shots.

Yeah, I mean, You can order a $2 Cheeseburger, add an extra patty and have yourself a cut-price Big Mac.

Similarly, the oldies like to order an OFB from KFC (thats just the chicken fillet from the burger)

      • i love the fillets box, similar price to a 2 piece feed, just no bun, but way more chicken and much easier to eat while you're driving

      • $2 Cheeseburger, add an extra patty and have yourself a cut-price Big Mac

        Also known as a McDouble.

      • McDoubles are $2

    Because its an amazing deal.

  • Best. Post. Ever.

If the counter staff are OzBargainers themselves, then we have a win-win situation lol

      Why?

Edit: don't worry got it now

got called a 'cheap asian' by the teenage-girl shop sales person.

Ozbargain brings out the racism. :/

    Tasty cheap oreo mcflurry nonetheless

    • +5

Lol, seriously she could easily get fired if you told her manager

    • +6

Did she say it in a joking way?

You should've threatened to tell the manager unless she gave it to you for free, then you'd set a new record lol

      • +6

        Freebie: Mcflurry

Make sure you're ethnicity is one that is always targeted by people. Go into the most bogan store and order a McFlurry the Ozbargain way. When called a tightarse threaten the cashier saying that you'll complain to the manager.

Congratulations you've got yourself a free Mcflurry

For best results, go during the busiest time of the day. When you get to the counter, pretend to read the menu and read aloud the most expensive items. Then to heighten the frustration, order in barely understandable english, and when they ask to repeat, do it with extra condescension, like they're the idiot.

        • Or have a friend video it… and get a free HOUSE.

        • +1

Brilliant! I knew being a gay Jewish aborigine would pay off one day.

    • +4

      that's actually very bad.

  • +2

Voted for the OP creativity… not for McD's.

  • Awesome! Top thread!

  • 1200 votes omg

  • +1

Is there a badge for most upvoted deal?

  • +34

Are people voting for the deal any more, or just to see how high the counter goes? I'm actually quite demoralised by the number of positive votes. Some of my deals have gotten 20-30 votes and I've been pleased with that, but now I know what's possible, I feel like they're not worthy. :-/

    • +5

      There there, have a +1 :P

    • +3

Any of these upvoting system especially on a site that's so casual is usually riddled with non-meaningful votes, same thing as reddit, people's highest upvoted comments is usually their most dumbest of all time.

    • +5

Feel your pain moooooooo. Personally, 600 posts and only a few of them voted in the 100s… they pale into insignificance compared to this. It's quite obvious people are now voting just to see how high the count can get. Still, he's worthy of all praise.

      • Yea, it's obviously a good deal and people don't really see any harm on giving it a few more upvotes after seeing how many there already are.

I don't think it takes away from other deals, it's just the uniqueness about this one that's gotten so much interest which is causing some to upvote when they normally wouldn't.

      • Also that McDonalds in nationwide, whereas some deals are location specific

    • this is going to be in the world record books 2014!

      • -1

sorry but Guinness World Records 2014 already released :)

        • I guess it will be recalled and republished now. ;)

        • it will be in the 2015 one.

  • +5

you can clearly see that the ozbargain website was not designed with a 4-digit upvote in mind :D

  • Or you can bring your own oreo or m&ms?

    • that is not the point

    • +14

      Release the Negs…

    • Should have said that hours ago and you could have got the record for most negs.

Says the dude who has posted one deal in 4 years. Not sure if troll.

    • +2

It's a way of getting the same thing for less money. Bargain. Extra props because the poster followed through and did it themselves.

      • I'm definitely an admirer of OP's ingenuity

    • +2

I kinda get what you are saying, this definitely would have been moved to the forums if it wasn't so popular!

      • +1

But still, you don't get over 1300 votes for nothing. Good on this guy for sharing it to us all whether you think it's a bargain or not.

        • +5

Yeah don't get me wrong great deal he posted. Its just the whole community getting into a frenzy about it when I've seen so many similar deals moved to forums. But I guess it's good for business.

        • I thanked the OP but suggested it to be moved to the forums (it was only 10 mins after posting with abotu 10 votes) and got negged to oblivion (currently on about -40) :(

I guess that's just how the OzB community is, quite unpredictable at times.

4lt vanila ice cream $4 (half price sale)
    $2 big pack of smarties

    Total $6 makes 20 - 30 of these. Cost = 30cents

This deal us good for its ingenuity. Gurilla war fare.

    • +1

Yeah true. The point of buying food at Maccas is for someone to make it for you. When you have to do the work yourself, it becomes pointless to buy at a fast food restaurant.

      • +17

Scooping ice cream and opening a pack of m&m's is not making food.

      • +2

i would argue scooping soft serve from the cone is equally strenuous..

    • +1

You miss the point of the bargain.

One day I'll get asked: "Grandad, where were you when mankind discovered how to make a $1.40 McFlurry?" And I'll say: "I was right there on Ozbargain, kids, as it happened. I was at Ground Zero. And apart from that time I found all those expired soup packets it was the greatest day of my life."

    • +12

Except it wasn't discovered on Ozbargain http://arbitrarykitchenscissors.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/the…

Nice, i always get them to put soft serve on sundaes lid and ask for caramel topping for a mini sundaes. Never thought of getting more than one soft serve put together though.

  • Why did my net get revoked?

    • +1

How did you post this if your net get revoke?

You are lucky your life didnt get revoke.

    • If that has to be explained too you, then might be best you sit this one out.

    • +4

6 people disagreed with your opinion or you didn't follow the voting guidelines…that's how your vote gets revoked

    • +2

"Neg me all you want". "Why did my net [sic] get revoked?". Lol…

    • cause someone has reported your neg as "invalid neg reason". Now, can you guess who was it out of 1472? :)

How to get cheap Whopper Jnr with cheese at HJ's:

Order BBQ cheeseburger from $2 menu (this has BBQ sauce, mayo, cheese & meat patty - maybe pickle also, I forget)
Ask for it minus BBQ sauce, add lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and ketchup.

You now have yourself a Whopper Jnr. with cheese for only $2.

They don't charge for extra salad like McDonalds do.

  • +2

Hahaha so he got the scam from somewhere else and passed it off as his own as well. Classic.

Alas we have gone past 1337

Nominated for ozbargain the most up voted deal.
Nominated for ozbargain the most creative deal.
    DIY ftw.

  • +3

Holy shit, it broke the upvote counter.

  • Ever since mcflurry's have been around, I've almost always ordered 2-4 toppings, instead of just the one (ie. m&ms+oreo+crunchie). It just made sense, and it was nice nice nice :) Because let's be real, the toppings didn't cost too much extra and the ice cream was the more expensive part of it.

… still cant believe they don't flurry the ice cream any more. Is this true?

    • +1

Isn't that soft serve stuff just some kind of powdered milk and water? I would have thought it costs next to nothing.

      • +2

if only if was just powdered milk and water….

        • I remember years ago seeing a "Making of the movie Alien" video. They showed clear stuff that looks like mucus continuously dribbling from the alien's mouth like it was salivating before chewing someone's head off… and said it was the same stuff used in McDonald's shakes - liquid pig fat.

It's probably the same thing in the 'ice cream', but in multiple servings to make it thicker, LOL.

      • No: mutton fat.

  • +1

It's obvious that the McDonald has some watchdog monitoring the OZB 24hr.
I bet they'll close this loophole in anytime soon.

  • More than a thousand votes, but only less than a hundred would avail for sure. What's going on? :)

  • +1

    Most popular ever deal?

  • +1

OP - If you want to impress us again, find Connoisseur at $1.40 and we'll keep the + votes coming lol

  • +2

Hamburglar tried this first years ago. That's why he got the boot from McDonalds ;-)

"Greatness is born not by he who discovered the cure but he who brought it to the masses" quote by me:) probably plagiarised from someone in the history of time.
