Advice on credit card

Admittedly I haven't really had a credit card giving me good rewards or points and thought I should really start making use of some benefits from my money spent.

I probably won't spend huge amounts on it but I travel to Europe at least once a year for a minimum of 4 weeks so maybe one with travel insurance and no cash out fees would make sense such as the Citi Platinum (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123330#comment)

Are there others to consider such as AMEX or any advice in general?

The only thing that has changed since then is that 28 Degrees have introduced a fee for withdrawing cash overseas, so the Citibank Plus transaction account with Visa Debit card is now the best option if you intend to withdraw cash overseas at the best rate.

If anyone would like an Amex Platinum Edge referral please let me know and I'll PM them the link. You get 15k signup points via my referral rather than the usual 10k points.

Also to add to the three cards I mention, I would also now recommend the HSBC Qantas Platinum card as a rewards card. $199/PA, 20k QFF points on signup, 2 x QF Lounge Passes per year (can sell these on eBay for $70-100). You can also get the annual fee reduced/waived sometimes if you say you're considering cancelling the card.

Bankwest Zero is best choice - all my overseas purchases that cant be made via Paypal, I use this, no forex fees!

    • What??
You are relying on paypal's currency conversion?

Paypal settings can be altered to avoid Paypal currency conversion. Your transaction will occur in the country of purchase currency and your CC will do the AUD$ conversion.

  • Thanks for the replies. I've just applied for the Bankwest Zero and a Citibank Signature Card
