Never had blackcurrants before, what do they taste like?
Like a blackberry but stronger. I love them with ice-cream or in a smoothie.
I just placed my order :)Thanks tommyc
I will be placing an order too :)
If they're posted on Monday we can expect delivery on Tuesday?
Yum love these. 2kg is a bit much for me though
:( Why don't they deliver that to QLD :(
Nice, thank you op.
I've never bought fresh produce online before. Is there anything else on that website worthwhile?
Wasnt this store on A current affair?
Unsure - don't watch that rubbish.
The store is run by Australia Post in conjunction with Farmer's Markets to connect consumers directly with farmers.
"Farmhouse Direct, is an initiative developed by Australia Post with the support of the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association to support Australian farmers."
I was joking :P
Hee hee.. good one. I think you probably meant to spell it A Currant Affair.
How do you think they'd go being shipped in the current hot weather?
Nice find - great frozen for smoothies for the next few months! Beats paying ~$5 for a 125g punnet at the big 2 supermarkets.
Thanks OP…….haha last blackcurrant I had was in a glass of Ribena several decades ago!!! ;-)
Anyone know how to make DIY Ribena?
Like this.
Out of stock :(
It's ashame no farms in sydney.
No not the inner city…plenty out Hawkesbury way
Disappointly I've STILL not received my order. Meaning that it's almost certain that the order will be spoilt.
I'm going to accept nothing less than a full refund on the sale as the vendor clearly states in their sles listing that:
"Orders will only be sent to postcodes in the Express Post network in the states listed"But they've stuffed this up as the seller and my postcode are NOT within the Express Post Network (meaning next day delivery). I called Aust Post and they confirmed this and stated it could be up to 6 working days between the seller and myself!!!!!!!!!!!
My postcode is 2450 and it's within the NSW Express Network - and the seller is within the TAS network but that doesn't mean they're NEXT DAY DELIVERY to each other!
FWIW the Aust Post Express Delivery network is quite difficult to easily interpret - the Aust Post Consultant I got on the phone stated he too felt this was the case.
So now I'm wondering why Farmhouse Direct sold these items to me being that they CERTAINLY knew I would NOT receive them the next day………and they knew that this was basically essential hence why they were atleast posturing to restrict sales to ensure the goods didn't spoil in transit!
Oh……and did you know that FarmhouseDirect is,"Farmhouse Direct, is an initiative developed by Australia Post with the support of the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association to support Australian farmers."
So they're owned by Aust Post!!!!!!! So how did they stuff this up? Very poor IMHO.
Well the currants did arrive (4 days in this heat!!!!!) a few minutes ago and alas they were completely spoilt. As they say a picture is often worth a thousand words so I've taken a number of shots of:
- the package EXACTLY as it was delivered to me by Aust.Post
- the internal bag of currants showing the fermentation/spoilage thats occurred in transit
- the currants themselves when the bag was opened.
These pictures are uploaded within a zip folder that I've uploaded to the following (as I couldn't email direct to you):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/vyppspwgw13k3c1/Damaged%20…In short, the package was extensively damaged and had been leaking juice - hence I believe Aus.Post placed an extra bag around it.
Upon opening the cardboard box the internal bag was completely taunt as the currants had began to ferment & presumably give off gases - they had a very strong odour of acetone and smelt quite poor.
Upon examination the currants were in quite poor condition and had began to break down - turn to a mush.
I tried to wash some off and eat but they had an overpowering fermented/yeasty taste to them that is very unpleasant. Therefore I could not imagine being able to use them at all & have been forced to put the entire order in my bin.
Obviously I'm extremely dissatisfied with this, however I do feel that the true culprit here is Aust.Post - FHD for not making it clear to you that your postcode and mine, 2450 are NOT on the same Express Post Network.
2450 is on the NSW network but evidently NOT the national-next day network. FHD made this a condition of sale (as stated in the listing) and so why they didn't pick up on this is the question that needs to be asked.
sorry to hear :(
besides auspost/fhd, have you contacted eureka farm?
http://www.eurekafarm.net/cubecart4.4.5/returns-policy/info_…
http://www.farmhousedirect.com.au/contents/supportTonester,
Thanks for your reply. I had contacted Eureka through the contact section at FHD but didn't know they had their own website etc - so thanks muchly for that info.
FWIW they seem very helpful and genuinely annoyed that the items took so long to transit and obviously arrived completely ruined!
It does seem from the correspondence I've had with FHD that they don't have a proper mechanism in place to ensure fresh produce is ONLY ordered by folks who their delivery options will GUARANTEE receives the items in perfect order……so I'd be very wary if you're ordering and NOT in a major metro area etc.
Thanks again.
Similar to Nikko's testament, I too am going to be seeking an explanation and full refund.
I will be writing to both AusPost and Eureka Farms. I am in inner city Melbourne and the delivery was coming from Tasmania. They were meant to arrive on Tuesday and I arranged to be home to collect them. Instead they arrived on Wednesday but were taken to the local AusPost retailer. I went to pick them up but the retailer could not locate them. I left my phone number.
When they did find them they called me on Thursday afternoon. They said they "thought it was wine" as the parcel had leaked and damaged other parcels. They'd put it in a sealed plastic bag and isolated it.
This morning (Friday) I collected the parcel. There was liquid everywhere in the bag and when I opened it a smell of 'fermentation'. No wonder they thought it was wine. The instructions that Eureka Farm placed on the label said to leave the parcel somewhere sheltered if my premises was unattended. There is a sheltered carport right next to my front door! Why did Australia Post not adhere to these clear instructions?
TommyC, sounds identical to mine - haven't viewed your pix yet but it's like you're describing the bloated, fermented mess that arrived on my doorstep 4 days after posting!
Though I got back a very quick reply both from Eureka and FHD they've both gone completely silent and not replied back to my last requests……which leads me to believe that they're playing a blame game between each other trying to figure out who's going to pick up the bill for the bodged orders.
To me this is poor as first and foremost we should receive full refunds and they can squabble between themselves later.
I'm REALLY AMAZED this has occurred as it's the most OBVIOUS obstacle to selling fresh produce via mail order - and it seems they had absolutely no proper mechanism in place to ensure produce arrived within seller set guidelines…..absolutely amateur hour!
FWIW I'm going to dispute the charge through paypal as if nothing else that will get their attention.
You have to know LOADS of other folks got stung by this….such a shame.
Paypal dispute opened. :-/
ditto
FWIW I was literally just telephoned by Dennis, one of the owners of Eureka Farm. Very nice guy and was exceptionally sincere and candid in both apologising for the inconvenience and assuring me of a prompt resolution.
They've genuinely ended up being as much or MORE the victims in this whole thing - for whilst we get either a refund or other products sent out - they're out of pocket the products and the hassles/costs that went with the sale. The real issue here was NOT Eurka Farms products or anything they did but instead Aust-Post and FHD not getting correct communication to their vendors on real delivery time for products on their Express Post Network (which actually can take up to 6 working days!!!).
Based on Dennis' call I'd have absolutely no hesitation in recommending that anyone give them a try again as they're exceptionally customer focused and are very confident with their products.
Thank you Eureka Farms for a prompt and professional customer service recovery in what was very difficult circumstances for yourselves. I look forward to dealing with you guys again in the future. :-)
thanks for feedback…
great to hear their service is as good as their products ex-farm (delicious jams) :)
disappointing re auspost :( (though i've never had much of an issue with them myself)
Really enjoying these deals for fresh fruit on OzB!
