Gasmate Pizza Oven with Stand - 1.5m (H) $199 (Was $649) Pickup or Delivery @ Rays Outdoors

470

I'd been looking for a pizza oven for a while and this seemed like a good price. Delivery is available, would have cost $40ish to Perth but pick up in store is available.

"from pizzas with that beautiful wood fired flavour to a delicious roast dinner"

wait wut.. isn't this a gas oven? lol

    • Yeah, good point! Maybe you can get close to the woodfired flavour by adding a few woodchips during pre-heat & leave them in while cooking? Dunno as I don't have one of these but I've mucked around with the smoker box in my gas fired Weber 4-Burner before and managed to introduce a light woodfired/smoke flavour to things.

      • dont think thats how it works but "maybe"

      • +2

Correct. There is a holder where you can add your woodchips and it lets off a bit of smoke. No where near a woodfired oven taste but not bad either.

The problem with this oven is that the heat distribution is not the best and reaching the highest temp reqiured for quality pizza is also a bit difficult. However at this price its ok

Good price, but i would recommend getting a hooded bbq and puchase a ceramic pizza plate for $30. it will do exactly the same thing as this, and you will be able to cook sausages and steaks too.

    • +1

      Cum,

Where did you buy the ceramic pizza plate from? Or does anyone know where to get a quality one from where you can use it in a hooded barbie. Ta

        lol he called you "cum"

it doesnt really matter where you buy it from, i bought mine for $20 from victorias basement. i but my pizza on baking paper and straight onto the ceramic plate (so it doesnt stick to the ceramic and you do not need extra flour). make sure you heat upto 230-250 (higher the better) before you put the pizza on, otherwise it wont come out as good. i use a weber q 300

          Thk u!

      • Try BBQ's Galore. They are sold as a 'Pizza Stone'

  • What can this do that your kitchen oven can't?

    • +6

      Stay outside…

    • Nothing, just like both a frying pan and BBQ can cook steak … but I know which I like better.

      • +4

        Is it the frying pan?

      • Sure - but do pizzas taste better in this..?

  • Great price. Seen it for $299 but not $199. Does it do smoking also? As in smoked meat/ribs? Description is not really clear with that:

The Gasmate pizza oven is not just for pizzas, you can cook a variety of foods - from pizzas with that beautiful wood fired flavour to a delicious roast dinner.

  • Tempted - and I have a $15 voucher from the esky lack of stock debacle

Looks like u place the woodchips into a side compartment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4H8aprWRjs

    1:50min into the video.

    Cheers,

Not sure if to get this Gasmate one or this one from Masters: https://www.masters.com.au/product/100467871/grand-hall-pizz…

    • I bought one of the ones from this deal. Looking at the Masters one, it has smaller burners (14.5MJ compared to 21MJ), and has space for only 2 pizzas and doesn't come with a pizza stone (which I think is essential)

BUT, I really like that it mentions that its pull out shelves which would make it a hell of a lot easier to get pizzas in and out.

  • Anyone knows where to buy the woodchips from? And what kinda wood? Ta

    • BBQ shops should sell it. It's usually Hickory… well, the American made Weber stuff is anyway but I have no idea if it's the 'best' or ideal for all foods etc.

    • Ive seen different wood chips like mesquite in Masters

  • Bought one, thanks mel

Thats a fantastic price. I got mine for $299 a while ago from Rays. Even the aldi one was $220, so this is a good price.

We use 2 stainless steel smoker boxes when doing pizza - you can really tell the difference in a hawaiian pizza. We also got one for cooking stuff in summer outside, leaving the house nice and cool. I've used this for doing pizzas and roasting a chook using a weber beer can chicken roaster.

$149 jackeroo gas pizza oven at kmart is a better deal

    http://www.kmart.com.au/product/gas-oven/126749

    • How so? I don't see any specs to compare with so what are you basing this statement on, other than price?

  • +2

Heads up this is a lower spec Gasmate unit with Powdercoat finish. The lower spec unit retails for considerably less that the claimed $649

    Check out the dif here:

Vitreous Enamel Deluxe Pizza Oven (PO106) V's Pizza Oven with Stand (PO104)

The higher spec unit has a vitreous enamel body finish and interior and is the subject of the videos and positive reviews.

Still a good price but you also should be aware of what you are getting……

  • Went and checked these out last night, they look quite good but i held off buying one because i doubt there would be that many times i'd actually make pizza's outside.
I thought if i actually wanted one of these down the track i'd prefer to pay the extra money and buy/build an actual wood oven.

BTW the store still had these priced at $649

  • Not on website anymore.
