Looking for an AM/FM Walkman headset

Call me old fashioned but I'm struggling to find a place that sells one of these so I can use it for walks with the dog. I try to avoid online is possible.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Sorry for the vague description. Just as Berger correctly described. The headphones with the radio on the side is what I'm looking for

  • If you are in a metro area, you could use a DAB+/FM walkman, as all the AM stations and more are on DAB+. AM/FM walkmans are harder to find due to the different antenna requirements. Old timers will remember the ferrite rod in AM transistor radios.

  • .sorry, didn't read carefully

Or unless you mean those headphones with the radio on the side?

When you say avoid online, do you mean streaming audio(via a phone) or buying the actual unit online..

    • Your description is much better. I'm looking for headphones with the radio on the side

      • ..

  • As greenpossum indicated, your best option these days for listening to 'AM' stations + others is by way of a DAB+ radio. In case you're concerned, they are quite simple to use.

If you are happy to pay a bit more for likely considerably better quality than the Bush one suggested above (which may well be ok), Sangean make a pocket DAB+ radio that has a little speaker and headphone connection.
Dick Smith also sell Sangean stuff, as do The Good Guys, as will your 'friendly' local Harvey Norman franchise. If not in stock, certainly one of them will be able to order one in for you.

    Here's a previous OzBargain deal. www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116968
You'll be doing very well if you can get one near that price, but best of luck.

  • I find these Sony ones the best by far. Last for years and less than $40. Ear plugs only….no speaker.

  • IOSYS, the best pair of cheap bluetooth headphones I own (I have several pairs), also happens to have a built-in card reader AND a quite remarkably sensitive 20 preset radio - but FM only.

El-cheapo AM/FM headphones can still be found here and there (can't help you with store specifics), but if you decide that you don't need AM, and are willing to buy online (Aliexpress (the cheapest), Amazon, or Ebay), Zeolot b-380 headphones are the business.

  • You're an Ozbargainer who tries to avoid online shopping.
    Good luck with that.

  • yes, amazon and ebay have best options available. You must find your requirement within a your budget. Must try.

  • Dont most phones have basic FM radio? Mine does, and it doesnt require a net connection. The headphone lead acts as the aerial too IIRC.

No idea how good it is as I dont use it, but its there, and free.

Edit: Yes it does, I just tested it and it asked for the headset to be plugged in for the aerial.
