  • Store Rep, in the terms and conditions, do I understand correctly that you have to send in your receipt after dining before getting the discount?

    • Check out the how it works page…

You book through their website, and the discount is supposed to be applied at the time of billing in the restaurant as they would know where the reservation came from.

It appears there is a limited number of discount tables per restaurant and for specific times — more than half of the restaurants in my area have no bookings available for the next 7 days.

  • Hi Rep,

Do the discounts apply to take-out/take-away as well?

    • Hi bambooBee,

They don't apply to take out or take away, just dining in the restaurant. The program is a tool restaurants can use to help fill empty tables and gives members a nice discount too. A win-win.

      Thanks, lunchalot

  • Just had a browse of the website and was contemplating buying it…but decided not to based on the following

    1. Can't list by discount amount
    2. compared to the entertainment book, it offers the same 25% for the restaurants you MAY want to go to…but not for the really popular/successful ones (such as din tai fung etc) that entertainment book offers
    3. using that logic, the only thing that it has left going for it is the 50% off, of which there are very few (sydney cbd), and of the few, the only one that i would consider going would be watts on crown.

but interesting concept, maybe it will have more restaurants in the future and a better restaurant search bar

I'm an existing member and satisfied with the lunchalot membership so far.

However improvements still need to be made.

The main problem seems to be that restaurants control when and where the 50% discount is available if at all.

I've used it several times but you really have to hunt through the listings to find half price offers.

Most restaurants offer only the 25% off food and drinks all the time.

There seems to be no minimum requirement for restaurants to offer 50% discounts. From what I can gather there is no obligation on the restaurants to ever offer 50% discounts.

So the restaurants can benefit from the free promotion on lunchalot but never really offer half price meals.

Meanwhile members pay upfront expecting a reasonable number of half price offers but can be disappointed with the number on offer.

Lunchalot should rank restaurants offering half price meals at the top of search results as a way to encourage their competitors to do the same.

I want lunchalot to be successful long term and I want to continue to support it.

But the service needs to structure itself to maximise the chances of members getting Half price meals - one of its key promotional premises.

I never drink alcohol at restaurants so the 25% of drinks and food means nothing to me.

    • Thank you for your feedback hello007, I have passed on to our team.

  • how many booking credits do you get? Can't seem to find that anywhere…

This membership is a scam. The restaurants that you supposedly book at have never heard of lunchalot.com and will not honour your booking, even less the entitled discount that you prepaid money for.

1st experience - Casablanca. They knew nothing of lunchalot and have never heard of any discount scheme. Lunchalot antagonisingly sent me an email asking how much I 'enjoyed' my meal and added credits towards bogus booking of restaurants with discounts. Looking at the listing of Casablanca the following day after lunchalot had apparently clarified with the restaurant, their discount went from the promised 50% to 25%.

2nd experience - Fratelli. Again made a booking with was not honoured.

3rd experience - Iceworks bar. 1st booking, the restaurant was closed even though lunchalot had a listing for them. I made a booking for the following day and the booking was NOT honoured. AGAIN.

4th experience - Casablanca again. After the first round, I was sure that I would get a table at Casablanca despite the MUCH LOWERED discount which lured me to join lunchalot in the first place. AGAIN THE LUNCHALOT BOOKING WAS NOT HONOURED.

I have demanded a full refund of fees which I have paid to lunchalot, which they are 'working on' and have not replied since my email 10 days ago. Now I have no more communication from lunchalot.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
