I was in harvey norman nunawading today and they had an action cam for $58 or 2 for $99. Sorry I do not know whether this is a good deal but thought I would share. http://m.harveynorman.com.au/homepage/navig8r-2-0-touch-scre…

    • no wifi on that one and only 720p according to specs.

  • Not even enough stock online to order 1!
I clicked ADD TO CART but got "The requested quantity for "MiGear Action Cam" is not available."

    • Still available for me to pick up. VIC 3122.

      Is this camera any good?

  • i bought this on the 26th Dec, for $98. is there anything i can do to get it for $78.40 ?

    • Try ring or email your local store to see if they will refund you the difference. I did the same thing with a product from JB HI-FI and they credited the difference back.
P.S. Have you tried this camera yet, if so how is it? I'm also considering it.

      • havnt used it, as i ordered it online. for $78.40 and if the additional 10%off code works(TAKE10OFF), for $70.56 is a great price and worth the risk if its average.

    Got one.
Even though it said free delivery I couldn't select it to be delivered so I had to click and collect.

Just realized that it doesn't say what smartphone the wi fi app works with. Anybody know if it supports Android - and if so what version of Android. maher1992, can you enlighten the rest of us on the wifi support ? And can you control the camera through the smartphone ?

    • Can confirm it works on Android and IOS, but not sure what version of Android. The app is called SYMAGIX for those who want to check it out.

  • Footage from possibly identical internals:

    • Well, I ordered one for click and collect, but after seeing all that jello wobble, I mostly want to puke now.

      • That's on a vibrating quad copter, even the go pro cameras do that unless stabilised and dampened.

        Edit
Just looked at a few more videos, and yeah, it's pretty bad. I think I'll be ringing DS and telling them they can restock they one I C&C ordered.

        • Care to share the worst or the best examples, so I can decide whether to actually pick mine up?

        • I just searched MiGear Action camera on youtube.
I'd be annoyed if I had paid $199 for it. Now that it's <$80 it might do as an underwater camera for the kids to play with at the beach and when we skin dive etc. I guess it saves me looking for a lifecase for my HTC One. (Which are like Unicorn Poop)

    • Descriptions are not quite the same but they look very close. JB one has chest strap and touch screen and the DS has wifi. I imagine the touch screen would not be much use inside the waterproof housing.

  • I seem to recall buying a similar (WiFi-equipped) action cam for $49 (from, eg, Kogan …or anotber OzB vendor?)

    (It was a while ago.)

  • looking at the specs and looks extremely close to this: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/cameras-phones-gps/cameras/ac…

  • I hope to pick mine up tomorrow (click & collect) assuming the website was correct with stock levels.

  • Wondering how this will compare with my Contour Roam quality wise. Someone post some samples please!

  • Probably a bit late with this but for those interested I've uploaded a snapshot from my first flight with this cam. It's not great quality but does the job. Camera is still available for $98 for Click & Collect. http://s613.photobucket.com/user/Rogerpainter/media/20140104…

    • Thanks for that. Do you have a video?

    • Thanks for sharing

  • I got mine for that $78.40 and I have to say it's actually better than I expected. Of course considering the original price, it certainly should be too. Optics to me seem pretty good and so is the image quality in general. Biggest problem I can see is that the compression starts to tear the image apart in high speed. Not sure of the technicalities, but it's like the I-frames were too far apart. Or perhaps it would just need more bitrate. That problem is present in the original files, so it's not just something I've mucked up in the editing. Haven't done anything too interesting with it yet, but here's a boring video clip of kids cycling around, filmed using the helmet mount, without the underwate case, put together in Full HD in Adobe Premiere and uploaded to Vimeo, no color correction or any effects were used:

It's rather shaky and the camera was pointed too much downwards, but you should get an idea anyway. Remember to make sure HD is on and watch it in fullscreen mode.
