Hi, how reliable is this HP laptop?
    edit: http://www.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-m6/4505-3121_7-35437…

    • +3

This is not a Pavilion m6, this is an envy m6, the review you have posted is of a pavilion.
The envy range is built really well, the article you have posted also points out that it is not built as well as an envy.
It is more similar to this model, though not exact.
      http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-Envy-m6-1101sg-Notebo…

though not a big mover for us, we have sold about 300-400 of these machines over its life-cycle, it has been quite reliable. We have become a lot more concious of notebook computer reliability in the past 2-3 years and look a lot more long term at the type of notebooks we stock and sell, we really look for machines and what the support and longevity will be over 2-4 years from all aspects as well as spare parts. You will notice we stock a lot less of certain brands and specific models and some brands we do not stock at all.

no deal going price for hp at this spec atm free delivery would have made an okay deal.

        • +3

Come on, this is an envy, the ranking for consumer notebooks is as below. If your just going to go by specifications then a Macbook pro should not be $2000 it should be $600.
Not every HP is the same, we do not stock the the really low end notebooks.

          Consumer:
          Compaq
          HP G6
          HP 1000
          HP 2000
          HP Pavilion
          HP ENVY

          Commercial series:
          HP 250
          HP Probook
          HP Spectre
          HP EliteBook

        • "no deal going price for hp at this spec atm…"

please can you provide an example or two of the equivalent offer(s) at this same price. I couldn't find them.

        • Store Rep - I am still waiting for your $600 macbook pro post ;)

        • Me to skinny, that's kind of the point.

        • Where do I enter the coupon code - I cannot locate this field

        • add to cart, then on the bottom right hand side, then about 5 lines just above the standard check out button.
I would recommend the Sennheiser headsets or headphones as well.

      • Hi Rep,

        Any 14inch equivalent of this?

        Thanks

        • The only 14" is the Envy 14, we just sold out of the core i5 yesterday, currently just have i3.

      • that particular envy design is the same as the pavilions from 2011 and even before.. so they're built the same

i have a pavilion dv6-6024tx from 2011 and while it is sleek, it is built to overheat.

        • completely disagree, most definitely not the same, I am very familiar with both models. Envy and Pavilion have never been the same.

        • really mate?

          dv6 design —> http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=3545

obviously not exactly the same but practically the same.

the point is it will overheat after a 1 year or so. but you can always fix the cooling unit by re-applying thermal paste and cleaning the whole heatsink and fan assembly anyway.

        • +1

A relative of mine is currently experiencing the overheating on a similar Pavilion. Cheers for the advice.

    • its as advertised, in black only. Please go by what is on our website only.

  • Hi rep, can you also issue invoice for GST refund?
    Thanks

    • ?
Guys every seller in Australia should be issuing you a tax invoice, it will come as standard when you buy from any store.

  • This lappy any good for gaming?

    • no, this is not a gaming laptop.

  • thanks bought it….

  • +1

Looks good, but it's a shame about the screen. Have you guys got any similar laptops with full HD?

    • Hi Spanks, yes we do, but at this price with FHD is never going to happen.

  • Laptop deal seems fine but I want 1366 x 768 to go away forever.

    • +1

For Australia to get FHD screens as standard, planet earth needs to switch over to FHD as the standard. We simply as a country do not have the volume to dictate terms with manufacturers or have the economic scale. As most of the planet is on a much tighter budget, FHD screens will always carry a premium.

  • Not a bad laptop for the price really so well done rep. If it was a touchscreen as well I'd be in, but I like my Windows 8.1 with a touchscreen these days. Seems touch on anything with these sort of specs is $800+ though so a bit more waiting to do!

    • Guys you are never going to get a machine with every spec you want, for below $1000, something is always going to be missing, for the simple reason that it is not possible to cram every high end spec into a machine at this price. With the dollar dropping against the USD, prices will be going higher and higher.

      • I agree that it is hard to get everything you want at the price you want (especially with the dollar dropping), however it always seems that the manufacturers have a rubbish spec with a touchscreen (such as your HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15-b103au Sleekbook you have on special for $579) while the Envy you have on this deal has a decent spec and no touchscreen yet the screen sizes and resolutions are the same. Just frustrating is all I'm saying, as for a bit over $1200 I'd have all the components for two machines if I could just swap the screens (no…I don't intend to do that)!

        • We have an Envy with a touch screen for $768. We do have them, but its not going to have a FHD screen, a FHD touchscreen panel is $300-$500 on its own, simply because it is not produced in the millions needed to get it to a price that can bring the price of a machine to $1000.
Good notebook computers are still $1500+ They are never going to be cheaper.
It is just about global supply and demand.

        • Yeah - I agree that FHD is going to be out of range, but even comparing the $768 model to get a touchscreen you lose out a lot of specs. You pay an extra $169 for a touchscreen, yet drop from 8Gb RAM to 4Gb RAM, drop 750Gb to 500Gb drive space, drop a 2Gb dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7670M to integrated graphics, and lose the internal DVDRW. While it might be lighter, the trade off is significant. More money for a touchscreen but much worse specs - which really only backs up the point I was making earlier. I'm not blaming you guys, just the manufacturers with their half-baked models.

        • Double-up - oops.

        • yes, it is also a better built model, I like the new Envy.

        • So..for all the reduction in gear, the new Envy is a better build than the old Envy? I think the quality of the components wouldn't be that far different and all you have different is the outside casing which doesn't really make up for it in my opinion. You did a good deal just the same and look forward to another.

  • thanks guys
its been great. Look forward to bringing the next deal to you soon!

    • yikes.. missed this one… looking forward to a similar deal soon.. leaving mid jan and hoping to get something by then around this price…

  • Can this be for pickup
