  • A direct link to iTunes for those who want it is - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/grab-it-magazine-issue-0/id7…

  • Supporting Aussie (magazine) writers which support indie games all over the world? Even though magazines don't interest me, I will + this just to show my support. I honestly hope this succeeds and you'll continue on till issue #9001 (at the least).

    • Many thanks Dagmar - there's a lot of belief in the team that this mag can do plenty to help gamers across the world discover and engage with the creative work of these small teams. But getting seen with deals like this is pretty critical to finding a foothold.

  • saw "indie" many places. what does it really mean?

    • saw "indie" many places. what does it really mean?

it means "independent" of major labels/mainstream publication etc as far as i understand it so im not sure how being signed to itunes really falls into this category. imho i think its pushing the boundary of its meaning in this case.

i also dont see the "deal" in this, did they used to charge for there first issue? this is obviously advertising to get people knowing about there mag. it is at best forum material, at worst simply spam.

The full magazine costs $4, so there's a limited chance to check out the magazine for free during this launch window.

In regards to indie, like you said, it refers to a lack of any investor backing from a major label or publisher. It also predominantly encapsulates small teams, often working from their garages or basements, trying to bring a cool new idea to the world that's too "out there" to receive commercial backing. There are thousands of indie products on iTunes, and like us, nobody has signed to iTunes.

iTunes is more-or-less just a distribution platform that charge you 30% of every sale for the service.

        • ah i see. short for independents i imagine. good luck with your new venture!
