Hi friends. Thought I'd try something different and photograph the entire Woolworths Boxing Day Catalogue for those of you that haven't received it yet. Can't find links to it anywhere, so here goes. And apologies for not having a single PDF. Hopefully this is useful to some…

Cheaper Schweppes varieties, Coke 30 packs, and drumsticks packs (plus the drumsticks here are only 4-6 in a box, not 20). This is compared to the Coles catalogue just uploaded. Probably more, that's just what I noticed.

      • Nice, thanks!

also op why do you keep the date watermark on your pictures? never understood why people would ruin their pictures like that…

        • +1

why do you keep the date watermark on

Apologies oringal. It's a camera that's used by someone in the family at work for damage assessment, so it's on by default. Suppose I forgot to turn it off.

        • +2

It's probably a GOOD thing for catalogues to keep the date. It's awful printing off a few pages of specials, then spending half an hour loading up a shopping trolley, only to get to the checkout and realise they all expired two weeks ago. Most catalogues only have the date on the front or last page, so if you print out only one page it won't show you when the specials expire.

        • I had to do this once for my insurance company, but I don't understand how this can be legally binding for insurance since anyone can simply add a date watermark in photoshop or even mspaint etc. with any date and time that they desire.

Very lite on for specials. Poor buggers must be short of new year good will

    • +3

Poor buggers alright…. $59 billion in sales, $2.3 billion in profits.

But that's ok they wont be 'poor' next year, because both Woolworths and Coles have "volunteered" to cap petrol discounts to 4c to help competitors out. How nice of them.

They've destroyed the fuel market and now that they've all but eliminated the competitor, NOW they cap the discount offered.

Good on you Woolworths and Coles… youre unreal.

      /end rant

      • i dunno, i'm still waiting for their price war on fuel personally
        -after bread and milk

do i EVER expect it to happen, no

      • +1

i was saying a few years ago the fuel discount is a big scam. we were all sheep using these fuel discounts now driven competition out and now there is no discount. people without a fuel docket just end up paying more, people with a docket just pay the market rate anyway. please just go to a servo that dont do dockets.

$59 billion in sales, $2.3 billion in profits.

disregarding the 'billions' factor thats only a 4% profit margin.. which for pretty much most businesses would be far from massively successful..

  • Coles and Woolies don't even open here in Adelaide on Boxing Day. I suppose we'll get similar specials starting Friday.

    • Yeah because it's the Proclamation Day replacement PHol.

      • Yes, but it's a public holiday in the other states as well.

        • Yes, but you guys in SA get a refund of 10c per can or bottle, every day of the week!

        • But we do pay more for them in the first place. Usually we come out a little in front, with 24-packs generally being $2 dearer than other states to buy, but worth $2.40 in deposit refunds.

  • Champion! Thanks TA! :)

I wonder if TA is using the camera from this deal… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115068

    • +1

I dont think so. He did not +1 that deal.

    • I wonder if TA is using the camera from this deal

Gee, is nothing sacred? Why are you looking at the EXIF data? Am I really of that much interest to you? :)

  • Is this Australia wide? Or what states is this for?

    • Profile data suggests this is the Victorian catalogue. There is also a reference on one of the pages to say that Altona Gate will be closed. This is a Melbourne store.

      • In my opinion, many of the specials will be the same but not all. The fresh food prices may vary state by state and the soft drink prices will be different in South Australia.

  • Ah woolworths. It was soo much easier when you allowed me behind your source script and extract the whole thing two days in advance of public consumption.

nice manual workaround.. . several of these discounts look similar to last week's.

Since when is Woolworths abbreviated to WOW?

    • +3

No idea. Wasn't my doing. A moderator modified the titles on both my posts.

    • +4

Clearly it's a reference to World of Woolworths ;)

    • +1

Since like forever. It's the asx code.

      • +1

I don't purchase things from the stock market, but I purchase stuff from Woolies.

If they're changing Woolworths to WOW, why aren't they changing Coles to WES?

        • +1

I agree greenie4242 and I've changed the title to reflect this. As I said earlier, the moderator changed it to WOW, not me.

        • -2

but I purchase stuff from Woolies

I've never purchased stuff from "Woolies". Most stores I've shopped at are called "Woolworths" :)

        • :) Very good point Matt! You fixed my error.

        • I worked for them, and they used wow all the time on internal documentation. Their recruitment sites called wow-careers. Apparently its their name on the stock exchange or whatever.
