Where did you hear that?
how come the aspect ratios are different? 11x14 vs 12x18. Why would I prefer one over the other?
12 x18 is the right aspect ratio for uncropped photographs. But if you are printing out something else (eg scanned image from a book, a painting, or a cropped photo), sometimes 11:14 might be better.Of course, make sure your image has at least 200 pixels per inch when printing out for best results. A program like BenVista Photozoom is good for upsizing without blurring or pixilating images, though one should probably perform other corrctings as well (sharpening, saturation boost, etc).
In terms of aspect ratio 12 x 18 is 3:2 whereas 11 x 14 is about 4:5 which is squarer. The former is good for lanscapes and the latter is better suited to portraits.
If you're using an APS camera, your uncropped pictures will have an aspect ratio of 3:2. Whereas, if you're shooting on a 4/3s or m4/3s camera then your uncropped images will be closer to 4:5 than 3:2.
Not bad price for 11x14, but if you want bigger then 12x18 is a better deal which starts in 2 days.
