HolidayVenture

Dear OzBargainers,

Many of you asked for another deal on a wireless set. This weekend only we are running a deal on our Air-Fi Venture AF52 Headphones for $49.99 ($70 off with coupon).

The Venture delivers an enhanced-bass sound with no-frills Bluetooth operation. It's very straightforward and easy to use and sounds great whether used wired or wirelessly. Additional features include:

  • Built-in microphone and remote for headset functionality
  • Over-the-ear fit in a compact form factor
  • Can be used wired via the included detachable audio cable
  • Battery life of approximately 18 hours at top volumes and even longer at reasonable volumes

Coupon code is "HolidayVenture". All prices listed are in USD. There is a limit of 2 per order and the coupon will expire next Sunday, December 8th, at midnight PST.

International postage will come out to $19.95 for one unit and $30.95 for two for standard 1st class mail.

Delivery times vary but are typically between 10 and 20 business days for 1st class. FedEx shipping is also available at an additional cost and delivers in just a few days.

With our wireless headphones the goal has always been to deliver sound quality competitive not only with other wireless sets, but with similarly-priced wired headphones as well. For a review of the Venture please see here.

A note on compatibility - the Venture is compatible with Bluetooth 2.1 and newer devices that support A2DP for stereo audio. In practical terms, this means they will work with all modern smartphones and tablets (as long as they have Bluetooth built in) as well as Mac computers manufactured in 2011 or later. Windows computers a little more complicated and require some setup but as long as the hardware is compatible (Bluetooth 2.1 or newer and A2DP support) it should be possible to set up a wireless headphone under Windows 7 or 8.

As before, I will gladly answer any questions as best I can. I can also be contacted by email at customerservice(at)meelec.com or directly at mike(at)s2einc.com .

Thank you all for your feedback and support. All comments and suggestions are welcome!

  • 20$ shipping… Can't guarantee it will arrive before Xmas. Not for me…

  • Took about a week for shipping last time I ordered

Likewise, and a smooth ordering process with good confirmation email follow-up.

I bought the AF-62's, and the AF-52's will also represent similar value, especially at this pricepoint.

Mike, you said you were open to suggestions so I hope you will take this onboard, as relates future models.
For people who aren't in the habit of moving around at the edges of bluetooth range this isn't going to be an issue, but the AF-62's (and maybe the 52's) are a couple of metres short on range relative to both of my other (much cheaper) bt headphones. Of equal irritation is the full (and otherwise halting) 2 seconds or more it takes for them to reconnect when you orient yourself back in range. One of the cheap pair of headphones I own reconnects seamlessly and within a fraction of a second. An improvement in upcoming models, I hope.

        Noted, thanks for the feedback!

I know on the Matrix (AF62) model range can vary a bit depending on whether you have one or two devices connected. If you want to maximize range make sure the Matrix is not connected to a second device at the same time (via Bluetooth… wired is fine).

        • Hi Mike. Thus far, only ever used with one device connected.

        • +1

Ok, fair enough. Just wanted to make sure. I'll bring up the range and we'll see what we can do for the next-gen versions.

  • How does this compare versus the AF62?

  • Any discount on the AF62?

    • Sorry, we actually ran out of stock just recently. Unfortunately it won't be restocked until next year.

Well done Mike on another great post. I'm enjoying the runaways from the previous headphone deal.

    • Thanks, happy to hear that!

  • How does this compare to the ATH-M50

    • I would wager wired beats wireless sound everytime.

      • I was pretty keenly of that impression too, but I've read quite a few reviews on good quality bluetooth headphones recently where the reviewer struggled to - or even admitted that they couldn't - tell the difference between wired and bt for a given pair of headphones. I can't remember exactly where, but one reviewer even said that he thought apt-x was not worth the extra money involved when compared to well integrated (and amplified) standard bluetooth.

  • Damn - I was hoping it would be a newer version of bluetooth - A2DP has a LOT of compression artifacts inherent in it.

    • Impact-wise, rather more horrible in theory than in perceived reality, for most music, most of the time.

      • Still, if I am going to buy a $70/$120 set of cans. I want them to sound right, esp given there are cheap enough solutions to MAKE good cans wireless that far outperform SBC. I would prefer a cable over totally unnecessary artifacts.
I know it isnt A2DP itself, but the default codec SBC, it is still a shame that AAC or even mp3 isnt supported by these as they can be sent over A2DP

I hope you saw the OzB deal on this a few days ago, and assuming that you are happy carrying the likes of it around it would narrow your decision down to just using your favourite corded cans! www.outlawaudio.com/products/btr100.html
Did require the use of a ship-forwarder, but the all-up price saw me almost buy one on 'Cyber Monday' to replace the bt adapter attached to one of my amp inputs.

I'm not an Apple user, but my understanding has been that the main issue with AAC over bluetooth is Apple's refusal to enable it in one os iteration after another. I don't know if this has changed or whether there is a workaround for people with jailbroken devices, but it really isn't an interest for me. I don't have too many AAC files kicking around.

As for apt-x, I have a number of devices that support the codec, and while initially motivated down the path of buying compatible bt gear, I have been lazily, and pleasantly, surprised by how generally un-muddy and constricted regular bluetooth can be. As someone who is pretty finicky - and unlike so many people I know has managed not to f*ck their hearing into high frequency oblivion - that is saying something, I reckon.

  • Would this work with a TV that supports A2DP compliant audio devices?

    • +1

      Yes, it would.

I think the deal has expired now on our end but if anyone missed it because I was slow to respond to Private Messages please shoot me a PM or email and I'll provide an extended coupon.

      • Yo da man

Hi Mike, this deal ended up getting very few clicks, which is a pity.
For future reference, putting up a deal early on a Saturday morning Australian time really is not a great idea. Very few active users on the site at that time, and the weekend traffic can be generally slow. (Particularly so in warm weather!)
'Weekend' type deals seem to fare best when they go up on a Thursday or Friday.

        • Thanks, really appreciate the suggestion - will definitely try to follow it in the future! We have a few deals crammed into the next few weeks due to the holiday season but after that I'll run 'em Friday morning-Tuesday.

Hopefully a few of those who wanted wireless headphones got in on it anyway!

  • Is there any chance there are any similar deals soon to start off the new year?

    • +2

Sure, will make something happen within the next two weeks (hopefully next week).

      • +1

It would be great if you could do a similar deal to this for the Atlas! I just love that design…And maybe the M-Duo too - seems like a monster with those dual drivers.

      • +1 for the Atlas ;)

      • A deal on the atlas would be awesome

      • +1

        I posted a new Venture deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130682 .

The Atlas is a brand new model so it might be a while before I can provide a discount on it. Will see what I can do. The other options for near-future deals are the M-Duo earphones and the EDM Universe earphones :)

        • +1

Ok thanks! A deal on the M-Duos would be amazing in the meantime ;)

        • Keep an eye out for it next week ;)

        • Awesome, will do! :)
